Summary: Aragorn's version of his fight with Legolas at Helm's Deep
There is Still Hope
"Farmers, farriers, stable boys. These are no soldiers. " I said to Legolas as turned around to look at me. Gimli sighed. "Most have seen too many winters." Legolas smiled." Or too few. Look at them. They're frightened. I can see it in their eyes. Boe a hûn: neled herain dan caer menig!" The men around us turned around and fell silent. I turned to elvish. "Si beriathar hýn. Amar nâ ned Edoras." Legolas glared at me. He went to the odds." Aragorn, men i ndagor. Hýn ú- ... ortheri. Natha daged aen!" I stared at him, astonished. Legolas has given up hope that we can win this war. An angry feeling burned inside of me. "Then I shall die as one them!" I yelled. I glared at him and left. No one came after me.
Outside, I can see the men of Rohan preparing for the battle. I cannot believe it. Legolas has given up hope. Hope that we can win this war. I sit alone and spotted a little boy with a big sword. "Lend me sword." I called to him. He handed me his word to me. I stood up, pointed out and twirled. I returned to the boy. " This is a good sword." I told him. The boy swallowed." The man has said there is no hope of winning this war." I nodded to him" There is always hope."
Later
"Togo hon dad, Legolas!" Now we are part way through this war. An Urak- Hai is now trying to blow up the breach, which others and I stand above. "Dago hon! Dago hon!" The Urak-Hai was shot but with one last effort, ran and denoted the bombs.
Then it exploded.
The War of Helm's deep has ended. Legolas and I are friends again and are headed towards Isenguard. I don't know what happen between when the breach exploded and when charged with the elves my friend Halidir sent us, but I will.
