She was just looking. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Quinn blames the pregnancy hormones. It wasn't as if she could control herself. She had started noticing little things about Rachel: the way her face got all scrunched up and cute when she was belting out yet another of her solos for Glee; how primly she smoothed out her skirt and crossed her legs before sitting down; the way her eyes seemed to light up, just a little, when she met Quinn's eyes, and saw her looking.

There were other things, too. Things Quinn had noticed, if she was being honest with herself, before she could use the excuse of pregnancy hormones. For example, even though Rachel was very small, she had very nice legs that almost made her seem taller. Her long brown hair, too, Quinn adored. It just looked so thick and luxurious. Quinn knew she had nice hair, too, but she'd never wanted to play with it as much as she wanted to play with Rachel's.

Then, of course, there was her voice. Her singing voice was brilliant: strong and clear – Quinn could identify it anywhere. And as much as Quinn loved Rachel's singing voice, she still couldn't help smiling when she heard Rachel just speaking, even if it was usually along the lines of "Quinn, I think you could use some improvement on this line."

All of Glee sat together at lunch now, and most of the time, Quinn would snack on the fruits she'd brought with her and listen to her teammates talk about this and that. (She'd found that the cafeteria food just didn't do it for her anymore. Not that it ever really had to begin with.) Sometimes, when she wasn't paying attention, she'd find herself watching Rachel again. She'd notice how Rachel's lips rose when she smiled that wide, movie star-like smile and how she tilted back her head and just laughed so freely.

Rachel never mentioned if she'd seen Quinn watching at her, but Quinn could tell she knew. Sometimes in Glee, or just when they passed each other in the hallways, Rachel would smile at her, a small, lips-only smile no one else knew. Or she'd touch Quinn's elbow, just fingers quickly brushing over her sweater. And it was special, something just she and Rachel shared. Whenever it happened, whenever she saw that smile or felt that touch, she'd turn her head and watch as Rachel kept walking on. Then she'd smile to herself and continue on her way to class. Somehow she just knew that those gestures were Rachel's way of saying, "I've seen you watching me. And I kind of like it."

Quinn liked it, too.

After all, what harm could looking do?

END.
