This is my first FF fanfict. Please REVIEW! This is after DofC about three years, and it's about the pairing of Vincent Valentine and Shelke(I know, a rare pairing but I like it XD) I will write at least one other chapter of this story, and if people want I may write more. So here it is, enjoy!
"Vincent Valentine," Shelke said.
"You know you don't have to call me by my full name every time you address me." Vince told her, "Vince , or Vincent is fine. We have been going out for three years now." He reminded her as he played with her hair.
"I know and that's just what I wanted to talk to you about." He looked at her, puzzled.
"What I don't understand is why you won't marry me?" She looked pain stricken. Vince picked up her hand off the floor of the church where there were flowers growing.
For some reason the church held some significance to the group that had gathered there years ago to witness Cloud's revival and Denzel's healing. He looked into Shelke's Piercing blue eyes, the same stoic, blank expression on his face. If it wasn't for his next words you wouldn't have known he loved her.
"Shelke, you know I love you. I've told you many times the affection I have towards you. But..." Shelke cut in,
"I know , I know, you think the age difference isn't right, but I don't care. I love you and I want us to be a family." She said defiantly and tried to kiss him, but he caught her chin in his hand and said sternly,
"You won't convince me like that." She sighed and plopped down in the flowers on her back, like an angle figurine, sprawled out. Vince stared sown at her serene face, her eyes closed, trying to understand him. Her eyes popped open and she could see the lie in his dark eyes. She sprang back up into a sitting position.
"What are you not telling me? There's another reason you won't marry me. Is it Yuffie." She spat out jumping to conclusions. His face showed an inkling of surprise.
"No. Yuffie is just a friend I've know for a long time, nothing more." He almost laughed at he silly accusation. Her features relaxed and she liked up into his eye's , blue pierced the dark abyss.
"Please tell me why." She pleaded with him. He stared out the door of the church off into the city.
"You know about Lucretia and I, right?" He glanced at her and she flinched.
"She was the first person I ever loved. It was mindless love, I didn't think about the danger she was in, we were both in." He paused and took a deep breath. "I lost the only person that loved me, I don't want to go through that again." He turned and looked at Shelke, "I don't want to marry you because I am a coward, who is afraid to lose his most precious person." Shelke considered his every word before she spoke.
"What does it matter if we are married or not? If either of us dies, no matter what, one of us will be hurt. Now is as good a time as any, we are both healthy and strong." He took in her words and he looked at her, a single rear fell down his cheek.
"Shelke," he said as he cradled her face in his hand, believe me I want to marry you, but right now is not the right time, I have neither the courage, or bravery to do that." She looked at him astonished,
"You are so brave in battle, how is it you can't even propose now? And what does, 'not the right time' mean?" Vince stared at her,
"You ask too many questions." He grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug.
"I guess I'll find out." Shelke said. A faint smile crossed Vince's face for the briefest time, but Shelke was still hugging him, she isn't see it.
