The Not So Fun Vacation

Chapter 1

The thousand of letters Phoebe received each day were starting to drain her. Aside from being an advice columnist, and a charmed one, her personal life was draining her as well. The divorce from her husband Cole was making Phoebe have second thoughts about their relationship. She really wanted to trust him, she really did but she couldn't let him hurt her again...she wouldn't.

In need of rest, Phoebe was slumped over her desk where hundred of letters were scattered everywhere.

"Flowers for the lady." Phoebe's assistant chimed as she entered the office carrying a bouquet of flowers in her hand and setting in on her very unorganized desk.

"I'm sorry for disturbing you. " her assistant apologized. "I thought you were awake..."

"It's okay Lacy" Phoebe yawned, sitting straight up in her chair. "I should be getting back to work anyway."

"I understand." Lacy said before closing the door and exiting the room.

Phoebe examined the flowers closely. She inhaled the scent and a small smile curled on her lips.

"I'm glad you like the flowers." someone said in front of her. Phoebe shot up her head surprised to see her soon to be ex husband Cole leaning against a wall flashing a smile at her.

"Cole what are you doing here?" she snapped.

"Can't a guy visit his beautiful wife?" he asked with a smile.

"Flattery will get you nowhere." Phoebe said, her blood-shot eyes glaring up at him.

"Listen Phoebe..." Cole began.

"Whatever it is Cole, I don't want to here it." she said hoping he would just leave. But he just stood there with a trace of sadness in his eyes.

"We really have to talk." his tone a little sharper than he intended it to be.

"And I told you, I am busy." she said in the same tone, placing her hands on her hips. The phone started ringing interrupting the stare-down between the ex-couple. Phoebe released her stare from Cole and flipped over papers in search of the phone. After two more rings she found and grabbed the phone.

"Hello this is Phoebe Halliwell from the Bay Mirror." she greeted the caller on the phone. She gave a sidelong glance at Cole who was busy fumbling with his fingers, his shoulders slouched as he leaned up against the wall. "Yes I would be glad to do the interview." "When is it?" "Next Week." "Yes that is a great time!" "Thanks, Goodbye." She hung up the phone and smiled forgetting about the argument with Cole she had a few second ago.

"Good news I presume." Cole said.

"Yes." she replied, not knowing what else to say to him.

"Listen Phoebe," he began again. "We really have a lot to talk about..."

"There's nothing to talk about Cole." she said quickly. "We're getting a divorce."

"Yeah and it's over someone completely stupid!" he said getting a little angry.

"There's nothing stupid about us getting a divorce!" she shouted to him.

"Do you love me?" he asked her.

"No!" she lied to him as well as to herself.

"That's a lie, and we both know it!" he said seeing right threw her. "Why are you doing this to me Phoebe?"

"I'm not doing anything to you!" she objected. "You're ruining my life and that's why I'm finally freeing myself from you."

"But it's not what your heart wants..." he said in a quiet voice. "Please tell me why you're doing this?"

"Because I don't want you to hurt me again!" she cried.

"I'm sorry..." he said moving closer to her and taking her in his arms. Phoebe sunk back into his broad chest. She let him hold her for a minutes as tears slowly fell down her face.

Not really sure if Phoebe and Cole will get back together, but we'll see. Don't forget to review!!
