I also dedicate this to my other BFF, I would not be alive without her, she has changed my life, and I probably wouldn't have known Alli if we did not meet. I could not live without her.
"Haze? Whats going on?"
"I don't know, just keep calm- and silent."
My sister's eyes fill with fear, and she opened her mouth to say something, but I quickly shush her. The cold stone wall of our basement freezes my legs with the slightest touch. My lips tremble with fear. I hear the ground tumble above us. I take a dagger out of my pocket as I hear the shooting arrows above me. There is still ground above our heads, but its getting closer, because I hear the trampling above our heads. The sound fades away, I imagine that they are destroying the other houses in District 12. The Capitol has been overthrown, my family calls them the Un-Capitolists, or just the Un-Caps. My heart lurches when the ground above us collapses,
"Quick, climb up, Aspen!" I scream, pushing Aspen up the wall of the pit.
My hand gets a deep gash from a twig sticking out of the wall. I push Aspen's 11-year-old behind up the wall, and climb up myself.
"Run! They have guns!" I shout, pushing Aspen towards the forest.
A bullet comes shooting towards me, I start to sheild my face with my palms. Then a women out of the Capitol jumps in front of me.
I see her twitch on the ground, until I realize it went to her neck, and she stops moving. I say Thank You! in my heart. I make the mistake of looking at her face, it seems so familiar, although, I can't quite place my finger on it. My heart aches with guilt, but I run towards the forest, just seeing Aspen's deep red hair dissapear into it's dephs. I feel a boost of energy in my heart as I bolt to the forest.
