Disclaimers: Don't own Stargate……….if I did…..SG-1 would still be here…

A/N: The first section of the story is the reaction to Carson's death not by one particular person, but everyone's…while mainly from my POV, it's the general feelings. The other sections are for the main characters and others like Lorne and Zelenka.

Carson Beckett died today. Simple as that. No longer in existence. Not in flesh and blood.

Time stopped. Life stopped. There was nothing left but silence. Nothing left but an emptiness that all felt.

The Heart of Atlantis is gone.

In one simple explosion, even when victory was sure at hand. He died.

Atlantis has never been this silent. Never so void of life.

That great calming presence disappeared. A man who could calm the storms of the seas.

There is no pretending anymore. No lies can wipe away what's so clearly written on everyone's faces.

The pain. The anger. The sadness. The hate.

The hate at God. How could God take him away? Didn't God understand that Atlantis needed him? Who is going to take care the wounded now? The sick? Who is going to stand by our side and tell us that all will be okay?

How could God take away a man so gentle, so caring? A man who loved all forms of life, human or wraith?

Who is now going to be the voice of conscience? The voice of reason?

Who now can tell us to love instead of hate? To care instead of being ignorant?

No one ever thought this day would come. No one ever thought of losing him. He was always here. Just waiting to take care of the people he loves. He was the foundation of Atlantis.

Guess this just goes to show that not everyone in life or in Atlantis dies in battles.

Sometimes innocent people get caught in the cross-fires. Sometimes tragedy strikes when you least expects it. When you think everything's going to be okay and that you won, God sends a message, telling us to be humble and just be glad that we live.

He reminds us not to get carried away by our victory. He reminds us that every little victory has its costs. Even the simple, daily basis, small victories.

He takes someone dear from us to remind us that we lose people, people that you don't expect to lose.

He reminds us that everyone we lose, whether in battle or in accidents, have loved ones waiting at home. Loved ones who will suffer grief and mourn their deaths.

Sometimes we forget that. We do not dwell on their deaths. They seem so insignificant.

It really seems that way to us. Until Carson Beckett died. Until God took him away. Until God took someone that is so dear to all of our hearts. Tore him right out of our midst.

He reminds once again how fragile human life can be. How unfair.

He reminds us that all life will end. Whether it's today or tomorrow. Whether it's getting hit by a car, struck by lightning, or killed by the wraith.

He reminds us that we are not the ones in control. We cannot determine who lives or dies.

He took Carson Beckett away.

But that can be a comfortable thought too. Carson was so gentle, so kind, so loving, so caring, that maybe even God doesn't want to be apart from him for too long. Even God couldn't stand the thought of letting Carson go anymore than we can. So he took Carson home.

If you think of it that way, it doesn't sound so bad. It is kind of comforting even.

We learn that in fairytales, every story has an end.

But in real life, every end is just a new beginning.

A/N: More to come…up next are from Lorne and Zelenka's POV

The title of this story "Le Chrétien de Beckett" is actually the meanings of Carson and Beckett combine together in French.

Oh please do review!!!!!!! I don't get them very often.
