Kazuya rubbed his eyes with long pale fingers, exhaling in a smooth gust of air as he fumbled for his pen- his eyes were blurry from lack of sleep, after working on legal files all of last night.
Kazuya wasn't very practiced in blind fumbling, and he found himself turning on the radio by accident.
He never listened to the radio, but one day Mai had brought it in, and told him in case he wanted a break it was there.
As his hand extended out to turn the dial to 'off', his hand quivered and stopped as a most familiar voice came on.
It was distorted by static of course, but he would never forget that voice- it haunted his dreams and saved him from nightmares.
'Um, hi. My name's Mai and I'd like to dedicate this song to a guy I know,' she started nervously.
'Do you have the English song 'Bleeding in Love'" She questioned, and the host answered yes.
'Thanks. Um.. thank you Naru,' She finished quietly, and he found himself leaning in to listen as the soft music started.
'Closed
off from love But something happened
I didn't need the pain.
Once or twice was
enough
And it was all in vain..
Time starts to pass
Before
you know it you're frozen.
For
the very first time with you,
My heart melts into the ground
Found something true.
And everyone's looking round,
Thinking I'm going crazy
His eyes widened- had he really been causing her this much pain?
'But
I don't care what they say Keep bleeding
I'm in love with you.
They try
to pull me away
But they don't know the truth…
My heart's
crippled by the vein.
That I keep on closing
You cut me open
and I..
Keep, keep bleeding love.
I
keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love,
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open
He found himself unconsciously curling his wrists tighter, and he grit his teeth.
He made a silent promise to himself to be far nicer to her.
'Trying
hard not to hear But
nothing's greater
But they talk so loud!
Their piercing sounds fill my ears
Try to fill me with doubt.
Yet I know that the goal
Is to keep me from falling…
Than the rush that comes with your embrace,
And in this world of loneliness
I see your face.
Yet
everyone around me
Thinks that I'm going crazy, maybe, maybe…'
Kazuya couldn't believe that Mai actually loved him- in only his wildest dreams, those feelings he harbored had been returned, and he felt himself smile, and immediately wished that Mai could see him.
He turned off the radio- he didn't need to hear anymore to know what he was going to do about it.
When Mai came in the next day, she was surprised to find that Koujo wasn't in.
She stood there for a second, speculating on whether she should ask her boss about it, but then she grinned sadly- as if he would answer her.
She shrugged off her jacket, and hung it on the hook, looking at herself briefly in the reflection.
Then arms closed around her waist and turned her to him.
His deep blue eyes gazed into her surprised and extremely happy brown ones.
'You
don't have to bleed anymore,' he said gently, and caught her lips
in a tender kiss.
