Darkness closed in on the brown haired teenager, clouding her thoughts with fear. She had been by herself in the darkness before plenty of times in the past, but it still got to her.
People say they are afraid of the dark, but that is not true. Darkness is not what we fear, darkness is just black. What we fear is what is in the darkness.
Anything can be hiding in the blackness of the night, good or bad. What was intruding into Isu's path of darkness? Was it a good thing... or a bad one?
Isu attempted to ward the fear off, trudging faster and faster. What made it worse was there was no light, with the exception of the stars. Being so far in the desert, there were no streetlights, cities, or even a moon out. Tonight was the night of the new moon, so tonight was especially dark.
But the girl stared up at the sky, her head filling up with wonder at that moment. New moons represent starting over, new lives. Was this the time Isu would finally find happiness once again?
Isu broke her entrance from the sky, now focusing her thoughts on the huge collection of adobe buildings standing before her. They stood silently, showing pefect stability.
Here she finally was. Sunagakure.
Isu paused for a moment to take in the greatness of the structures of the buildings... they were so unique. Once she was done marveling, she gathered herself up and walked in the entrance.
"Hold it right there!" a hoarse voice called from the darkness. Isu turned and readied herself. Normally she'd be frightnened, but tonight she was tired of it. Something always has to be hiding in the dark.
Five men ranging from about age 25 to 43 circled around her, hands on their ninja weaponry. Their faces looked as strong as stone, and they looked as stubborn as them as well. There was no way they would let her pass unless she had a good reason.
But a good reason, Isu had with her.
"I'm here to stay in your village and live as a Suna citizen. My name is Isu. Surely your Kazekage told you." The men displayed faces as if to say, That's not good enough.
"Show us your pass! We can't just let go off as is." the oldest man said loud enough where everyone in the world could here him. Isu flinched and groaned. She reached into her messenger bag, and pulled out the laminated card. She gave it to the lead guard carefully, not wanting to piss him off. He snatched it from her hand, inspected front to back, and top to bottom. After seeing that the girl had legal permission from Kazekage-sama himself, he let her go.
...
Isu laid her head on the firm pillow, her brown, silky hair spreading across it. She stared at the cieling, sorting through the commotion in her head. This was going to be her new home.
Isu despised deserts her whole life. Having being grown up in a village near the ocean and being a water sign herself, Isu really loved water and coolness. She loved the feeling of the liquid splashing against her flesh, her become one with it. The feeling was so comforting and filling, there was no way Isu could live without it.
But now being in the desert, she would have to find a way to. She absolutely hated heat, she could'nt stand it. And now having to live in a village where all that was in it was sand, sun, and dryness, she would really, really hate this.
Isu felt tears well up and she wiped her eyes. If she was going to be in a desert for until she was eighteen, she might as well save the water she had in her system already.
