Call of the Battlefield
It calls you Dragon King
Do you dare deny its power?
Your denial is of no moment boy
Surrender...
Death is only natural
Do you dare to dread it?
Your fear is of no moment boy
Give in...
Your lust for blood will aid you
Do you dare ignore your thirst?
Your ignorance is of no moment boy
Indulge....
The excitement of war is stimulating
Do you dare overlook your exhilaration?
Your refusal is of no moment boy
Relish it...
The Battlefield calls you Van Fanel
It binds you
It blinds you
It burdens you
But don't turn your back Van Fanel
Face it
Embrace it
It calls you
AN: This is my first Escaflowne poem. I got my inspiration for this poem from watching an episode of Escaflowne: The Zone of Absolute Fortune, the same episode that inspired my story 'Grey Skies'. The poems I write are usually love/angst, but I went a little dark this time. Why? Just watching the scene where Van kills that Zaibach soldier (you know, after Basram used their secret weapon) makes me rethink about the horrors of war, and it makes me think about how war changed Van into a ruthless warrior. Well, I hope you enjoyed it.
