A/N: Ok this story had to be written.

"Elphie, please?"

"No."

"Pleease?"

"No."

"Pleeease?"

"Fine!"

"Yay!" With that Glinda dragged her friend into a small tattoo parlor. "Why are we doing this again?" Elphaba asked as they waited in the small waiting area.

"So that we can forever remember our trip to the Emerald City!" Glinda said as she sang the last part.

"Glinda, leave the singing to the professionals." Elphaba said. It wasn't that Glinda didn't have a good voice it was that that song was already stuck in her head. She didn't need reminding. Glinda was already looking at tattoo designs, acting like she hadn't heard her friend as she continued to hum the song. Elphaba just shook her head in frustration before joining her friend and looked at the designs. One in particular caught her attention. It was a circle of emeralds wrapped together in a black ribbon. In the middle you could get something written in curly script. One of her fingers bookmarked the page as Glinda turned it. Slowly they looked at others, but the one Elphaba liked the most was on the page she had bookmarked. "I don't see anything." Elphaba flipped the page with her bookmarked finger back to the tattoo design. "What about this one?" Elphaba asked as she watched her friend examine the design.

"It's perfect. What would we put in the middle though?"

"I was thinking the phrase, "Two Best Friends." Elphaba said as she squeezed Glinda's shoulder. Glinda's face split into a brilliant smile.

"Brilliant." The tattoo artist called them back to his studio. By the end of the session both girls now had a circle of emeralds on their left shoulders with the words, two best friends, in the middle. The artist gave them both a bottle of cleaner and snuck an extra one into Elphaba's bag. He had a feeling she would need more, though he didn't know why.

Two Days Later

Elphaba was high above the sky, damning her name to keep her values straight. Suddenly Elphaba tore off a section of her dress over her left shoulder. It showed the emeralds, still in perfect condition. The words still clear. "WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS?" Elphaba yelled down to her former friend. "WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR FRIENDSHIP? You were the only real friend I ever had. And you're willing to throw it away, BECAUSE OF POPULARITY!" Glinda turned away from her as tears coursed down her face. Elphaba quickly pulled out a needle and fixed her dress. "I hope you're happy." With that she raced into the western sky, not letting anyone see her tears.

End Story.
