The Harder you fall

Chapter 1: Strange Relationships

Abby reached across her bedroom cabinet to switch of her alarm. It had been ringing for almost ten minutes but only now had she mustered up the energy to move. The clock read 7.11- if she didnt get up soon she would be late- her shift started at 8 and she had to grab something to eat before then.

She wondered if Carter would be working today- she hoped not. Since they broke up the atmosphere between them had been almost unbearable. Things werent much better between her and Susan either. The morning went quickly- there was no sign of Carter and her contact with Luka and Susan was minimal. By lunchtime however she longed for a coffee and something to eat and so made her way down to Doc Magoos. He took her seat at a booth and order a coffee and a slice of banoffee pie.

Just as she began to eat the pie her pager bleeped. She expected it to be the ER needing her for some emergency. However she got a shock when she discovered it was Susan Lewis paging her. Puzzled she made her way over to the pay phone and began to dial...
