We wait in line for the movie. It's her birthday, so I treat. We're close, it's not awkward, not to me at least. We pay for our tickets and head towards the theatre. She turns to me.

"Look I appreciate the gesture, you're being nice and all but I'm with him and I don't-"

"Oh this isn't a date." She stares at me in light shock. "Yeah it's your birthday I'm just tryna do a nice thing for you here we aren't... you think I'd open myself up for rejection from you again? No thanks, I think I know where I stand"

She doesn't know how to react. I head towards the counter getting us drinks and a popcorn. She takes the popcorn and we walk into the movie still quiet. She holds on to the popcorn the whole time. I don't protest. About halfway through the film I stretch out my hand, reaching for the popcorn at last. Instead of pushing the bucket towards me, she takes my hand. I stare quizzically. She meets my eyes, and starts to lean in. Once our faces are inches apart. Just as her eyes are fluttering shut, I breathe, "Wait. What about him?" She pauses for a moment.

"I don't really care"

And with that she closes the gap between us and hungrily kisses me. I can taste the salt on her lips, contrasting the sweet drink that I've been having. She is reaching out, moving so that we share a seat. We're lucky the theatre is almost empty. She is straddling me, and my hands go into her hair. I grip and pull her to reduce the space between even further. The movie becomes quieter and I can hear the hungry noises she's making as we continue. Suddenly a scream comes from the screen and we jump apart. I stare up into her eyes as she blushes and settles down.

"We should... probably watch the movie..." I breathe. She nods, but doesn't return to her seat. Instead, she settles into my lap, with her arms around my neck. I kiss her cheek and then turn back to the movie, hoping she can't see the smirk on my face.
