Nomad's Reflections
Summery: Quinn reflects on his life, and how he came to where he is today. Quinn/Emily Duncan. AU.

To say Quinn Thomas was a soft man would be a lie.
As he laid in the old dorm room in the SAMCRO clubhouse, his wife, Emily Duncan in his arms, and their unborn son in her belly, he couldn't help but remember how he'd become the man he was today.
He'd been a native of Nome, Alaska up until the time he was 18. When he turned 18, he'd decided to join the Navy, to prove his worth as a man. It'd been a good job. Hell, he spent 6 out of his 7 years in it as a SEAL, going on numerous black ops missions, defending his country from all enemies, foreign and domestic. But something seemed to be missing.
After he got out as a Petty Officer, 3rd Class, he started traveling up and down the west coast, on his Harley, trying to figure out what he'd do next. He'd ended up in the small town of Charming, California, and had ended up working as a bouncer there. Again, it had been a good job. But something was still missing.
Then, in his 4th month out of the Navy, he'd met the local charter of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, or SAMCRO, as they'd called themselves. After hanging out with them for another month, they had approached him about Prospecting for them. He'd eagerly accepted, having always loved Motorcycles.
Always one for structure and organization, and with Tig as his sponsor, he had patched in a year later. At 6'10", with a body built like a wrestler, and his natural fearlessness, he quickly became an asset to the club and one of their top enforcers. Hell, Tig had even stated that if he ever died, he'd recommend Quinn to take his place as SAA. As much as he loved SAMCRO, he couldn't help but feel restless.
Then tragedy struck in 1994. His wife and unborn child had been killed in a drive-by shooting. It had broken his heart. With so many memories at SAMCRO, he did the only thing he could think of to get away. He joined the Nomads, the special forces unit of the MC.
He had quickly rose through the ranks enough to become Sgt. At Arms for them in 1996. In 2001, when the Nomad President had been killed, Quinn had become Vice President to the new Nomad President.
Finally, in 2006, when the new Nomad President had stepped down, the Nomads voted him in as their new President. With his military background, he in their minds, was the only man for the job. He had chosen Mike 'Cowboy' Ford as the man who would replace him, and Danny 'Psycho' Giving's as his Sgt. At Arms.
Then, in 2010, he began seeing a woman named Emily Duncan. After 8 months of solid dating, they ended up hitched together. Finally, in 2012, after Jackson Teller had been voted in by SAMCRO as the National President of the SOA, after Clay had finally stepped down, they were expecting a son.
He may have had a rough start, but he finally realized something. He was happy. Truly happy. And that was something, everyday, that he thanked God for.
Rubbing his calloused hands over his wife's soft hair, he whispered, "I love you."
