Rosalinda stood in the magnificent ballroom stiffly. Her eyes wandering around the room looking at all the girls, with elegant dresses and the Princes with their suits.

They of course, were here to court her. They had come from all over the world, young Princes from a Kingdom on the coast, from Europe, Ambassadors, from far off countries showing of their golden boy son in hopes that they would catch the Princess's eye. She however didn't notice any of them.

Her heart belonged to another. It belonged to a girl not much older than herself, a girl who to others was plain but to her was perfect. Rosalinda's eyes traveled once more as a song began. The music reached her ears, ringing softly, the melody soft and gently.

A Prince who she had to admit was dashing and charming asked her to dance. She accepted and they made their way to the dance floor.

The way he held her in his arms, felt foreign. The way his hand didn't fit in hers was reassuring. They twirled and stepped to the music as he smiled and held her close. His light brown hair moving slightly, his deep green eyes gleaming. She was a different story.

Her darker hair hung in soft curls swaying more then his with the music, her deep chocolate eyes looking past him, looking at the door.

The dance ended and she thanked him, moving past the crowd once more. She made it towards the door, about to leave when a soft hand intertwined with her own. Rosalinda froze, the hand was warm and fit perfectly with her own. She turned slowly to make out Carter Mason standing in front of her. Her smile could be seen in the dim lighting, still dazzling as always.

Silently she takes her hand and pulls her close, whispering words of comfort to her. Telling her, and promising her never to leave her again. Carter pulls back and in her eyes a flicker of hope. Hope that its not too late.

Neither of the girls notice that the room has gone silent. The young princes stood awkwardly. None of them knew what to do, but they knew that their attempts were in vain.

Carter took the younger girl's hand and lead her to the dance floor. The young men surrounding them parted and let them through.

She was given the world

So much that she couldn't see.

The two girls moved together. Both in sync and in rhythm with each other. The music sounded around them, speeding up in tempo.

To everyone on the outside it seemed the two were completely lost in each other. Savoring every moment they could hold each other close. As if soon someone would take the other away.

The song ended and the Princess was holding on to Carter for dear life, a single tear making its way down her cheek. Around them the princes broke out into applause. Perhaps they knew that these two girls belonged together or they simply wanted Rosalinda to be happy. Either way it was obvious that no one would tare these two girls apart. Ever again.
