Prose poem, written in Doofenshmirtz' POV

Hate is a relatively simple emotion.

You can say 'I hate this', and usually no one will ask for a backstory.

You can say you hate someone, and that forces a little more detail, but not much.

Hate is simple. For my line of work, it should be simple.

What I have isn't simple.

I don't want him to come over.

I need him to come over.

I want to rule the city and be a success.

I don't mind when he destroys my inventions.

I trap him in cages.

He stays by me when I need someone's support.

I've put his life in danger.

He doesn't hesitate to save mine.

The battle that happens every day, it's strangely one of the few things I look forward to.

He's my inspiration

For traps, for machines.

To keep trying, to keep going.

I ramble on, he usually listens.

I know he's a spy, yet I have no problem telling him my life story.

He's strong for something so small, yet his fur is still soft and comforting.

Most of the time, he's the one thing blocking me from my goals.

Sometimes, he's the one thing stopping me from ending it.

I want to destroy him.

I need to stay with him.

I can't imagine life without him.

I can't stand him at times, yet he can bring a smile to my face.

Contradictions. Both our lives are just one big contradiction.

Hate between two nemesises is simple.

We're not simple. We're complicated.

What we have is so complicated, sometimes you don't even realize what you're feeling

Until it's so normal it's almost second nature.

Love...

I love him.

Until one of us dies, I will always love him.

And I will keep trying to destroy him, to defeat him, to keep him from leaving.

Like I said, it's complicated

And yet, for me, it's almost simple.

Curse you, Perry the Platypus.

I had already posted this on Deviantart a month ago, and I was worried about it since I don't have much experience with writing poetry. But I liked it, so I posted it on DA, just kinda as an experiment, and it was really well perceived. So, I decided to finally post it on here. Hope you guys liked it, please review :)
