Perfection
300 words
'Perfection', Riou thought, was overrated. There was no such thing as true perfection. Instead, there was only the man's perception of perfection.
And Riou, unfortunately, was subject to it.
Riou could not understand why people sought for 'perfection'. All it entailed was pain. And loneliness.
Riou never wanted to be perfect.
Even though he was often bullied by peers as a child, and it used to be Nanami who fought for him… In the end, it was always from Riou that people expected things.
They expected Riou's consistent kindness, free forgiveness. They expected him to always be strong and be there for everyone. They expected him to be selfless in the truest and most extreme sense. And eventually… they expected him to lead.
"Because it's Riou."
And Jowy… Jowy had always been the one who had let him be imperfect. Who let him frown and be frustrated and cry.
Jowy had always let Riou be himself, and Riou had always let Jowy be himself.
Riou understood Jowy, because the noble was also expected to be 'perfect'. 'Perfect' in a different way, but 'perfect' nonetheless. And Riou had thought that Jowy understood.
…But Jowy left. The only person Riou could ever reveal his flaws and problems to had left. 'Betrayal', Shu called it. But Riou knew it was nothing of the sort.
…If Riou revealed everything to Shu, just as he had done with Jowy; then Riou was sure Shu would also leave…
Because, in the end… perfection was all everyone sought after.
Even though Riou could never be truly perfect…
At least now, he knew…
Even if Riou was tired, and all he wanted to do was lay down and rest… he knew. 'Allowing' himself to be 'flawed'… breaking the mould people expected of him…
It was not an option.
My first ever SuikoII fic… made simply because I miss it. (And I especially miss RiouxJowy :P)
For people with any questions about Raiou's views... well, you're free to e-mail me... am too lazy too explain enerything in a way that will address most questions.
