AN: Damn 100th episode broke my heart! My favourite episode ever now, I actually squealed watching it! My first Bones story as I generally write for Supernatural and the Outsiders so please forgive me if I seem new.
A GAMBLER'S COIN TOSS
"Hi! Agent Booth, this is a surprise!" Daisy greeted him cheerily. Obviously even as night fell the intern didn't lose that annoying high-school-cheerleading-spirit.
"Sorry to disturb you Daisy." Booth breathed in shakily, relying heavily on the door frame to keep him upright. "Is Sweets around?"
Daisy's smile faltered at Booth's quiet and listless tone. "Um...yeah, do you want to come in?" She moved off to the side making a sweeping gesture into the apartment. "I'll just get Lance." Booth thanked her but made no move to enter Sweets' abode. She walked into the corridor, landing outside a room where several car horns and sirens were blaring through the door. "Lance." The psychologist sat hunched over his game controllers, eyes wide watching the screen. His body moved to the left as the yellow car on the screen turned left as well. "Lance!" she said more desperately.
"Huh? What?" Sweets turned around, car momentarily forgotten; it crashed into the side of a building. 'You Lose' flashed across the screen with a robotic 'duh-duh-duh' following. Sweets turned back to the screen and blinked. "Aw, Dais, I was winning!"
Annoyed, Daisy stalked to the console and ripped out the plugs.
"Daisy, what-"
"Lance, Agent Booth want to talk to you," she cut him off quickly. "Something must have happened because he looks like his heart's been ripped right out of his chest."
Sweets got up, still dressed in his suit and tie, and ran out into the apartment's foyer. "Agent Booth?"
"Sweets," Booth greeted. "Wanna go for a walk?"
"Yeah, of course, of course, just let me tell Daisy." He turned back entering the room that he had vacated. Daisy sat cross legged on the floor, the computer screen illuminating her face in the otherwise dark room. "Daisy, I'm going to go on a walk with Booth, I'll be back later."
Pausing her game she looked up. "Is he okay Lance?"
"I-I don't think so." He left as the game started up again and muffled sirens became the only sound he heard.

The night was silent as the two men walked. Sweets looked up, then at Booth and then to the ground. Kicking the stones as he walked, he attempted to strike up a conversation - the silence was unsettling him. "Cold tonight." he said nervously.
Booth grunted, slowing his pace a little. He eventually came to a stop. Sweets continued to walk until he could no longer hear footsteps behind him. Metres away, Booth spoke: "I gambled." Sweets stopped and turned around surveying the man before him. Booth's shoulders were hunched, arms slack and hands in his coat pockets – he looked every bit defeated.
Sweets swallowed thickly not wanting to ask. "And?"
Booth looked up from the ground, watery eyes attempting to focus and meet Sweets' gaze. "I lost."
