Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN CORALINE OR THE SONG MISSING BY EVANESCENCE!! THIS WAS JUST MADE FOR ENTERTAINMENT!!
Coraline could feel the hard pit sink to the bottom of her stomach as she lay in the dark, cold room. What she would have done to see her parents, to speak to them and tell them she was sorry she left, but it was much too late know. She was now trapped in the Other Mother's web. Besides, Coraline knew that her parents wouldn't have even noticed her absence; they would have just gone on with their daily lives like they normally do. But deep within her, Coraline hoped that they would notice, even if just for a second, that something, or someone, was missing.
"I know they won't cry that I'm gone." Coraline muttered to herself, touching the new buttons sown in her eyes; which now felt ice cold against her fingers. "They've probably forgotten me already."
If Coraline could sob she would have, but seeing that she had buttons for eyes made it impossible to do so. "Am I that unimportant?" Coraline asked herself, knowing there wouldn't be an answer "Am I that insignificant?"
Coraline curled up into a fetal position, burying her face into her knees. She was all alone now. Her parents wouldn't try and look for her; they were too busy with their own wants to even notice that she was missing.
Coraline didn't know what came over her, but she started screaming and bashing her fists into the wall. "Doesn't anyone miss me?!" She wailed.
"Don't waste your breath, Girl," One of the ghost children echoed "'Tis best to look back on your memories now before you forget than to make a commotion over something you will never know." There were three ghost children there, who had once longed for a better life, and came here only to be fooled into sowing buttons into their eyes. The Other Mother kept them in this room, feeding off them when she was hungry. Coraline had the buttons sown into her eyes too, It was only a matter of time before she forgot her memories and became a soulless ghost.
Still, she didn't stop ramming her fists into the walls, groans of exasperation escaping her lips every now and again. "Hush. She might be listening, you know." Another ghost child whispered. Coraline didn't care if they Other Mother could hear her. She just didn't care. She didn't care if she was to be punished for her aggravation. If she had to be punished, she'd take it, knowing that her real parents don't even care enough to feel her pain. If she could sleep, she would have, just to dream of her parents loving her and hugging her, even though she would wake up with no one there.
Right then and there, Coraline could feel it happening. How she seemed so weak but was fine just a minute ago, how her skin had become so pale that it almost appeared to be translucent, how her memories seemed so far away she couldn't reach them. She could feel the energy flowing through her veins suddenly stop. It was as if her life was being sucked right out of her. She glanced at the ghost children. They looked at her as if they knew what was going to come next. She then figured out what was happening. She was becoming a ghost. All of her thoughts began to dim, yet only one seemed to glow brighter than the others. "Didn't anyone miss me?"
Sweet! First fanfic complete! (well… technically my first song fic, but oh well) I kinda exaggerated about how Coraline's parents treat her like crap, but other than that I thought it was pretty decent. Listen to MISSING by Evanescence! It's really good! (and by the way I had to redo this chapter because I accidentally mixed up the song "Sacrifice" when the real song is "Missing" soo yeah.)
Hey… that review button is shiny… It makes me want to click it…
