Hey everyone. Here is another story for the Going Postal event on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is for sending the letter and I choose to write about a letter. This can also be read as sort of prequel to A Letter Before I Go. There are mentions of character death in this story so be warned. So with that said and done I hope you all enjoy this short story.
Every day it would be the same thing during the summer vacation from Hogwarts. I would hang around with Lily and grudingly with her sister Petunia. I swear that girl really didn't like me for some reason. We'd have sleep overs and write letters to the boys. Or at least Lily and I would. Petunia really just seemed to hate anything to do us.
Another tradition of mine at least was to sit by the door or window and await a letter from Sirius in reply. It was like a daily ritual. I'd write to him every night in reply to his letter and the next morning he'd send one back.
We had done this for years now. From the moment we became friends until now. I sat at my window looking for the familiar outline of Sirius' owl just waiting for it show itself. I looked down at the pack that I had packed. This time it wasn't so I could go on a sleep over at Lily's house. There would be no more sleep overs. Lily was married and also being hunted by the dark lord and his followers. Then again so was I. Which is why my parents told me to always be prepared to leave in a hurry.
"Marlene," my brother called to me, "Mom says to be prepared to head out any moment now."
"Ok," I called back to him not letting the fear I felt in my gut show in my voice.
It was then that I saw it. The owl that would bring Sirius' words to me. I opened the window and quickly took the letter more a note from around the owls leg. It promptly flew away.
I quickly opened the letter to see it only contained three little words.
Marlene,
I love you.
Sirius
I quickly got out a pen and paper and jotted him a letter telling him all the things that I wanted to say knowing that I probably wasn't going to make it out of this house alive tonight. As I put the letter to my Sirius around my family's owl's leg I could make out the unmistakable forms of the Death Eaters growing ever closer in the dark of night. Letting the owl fly I hope they didn't spot because that would lead them to Sirius. That would lead my love to death too.
As the Death Eater pushed their way into my room I held the last letter I would ever receive from Sirius Black in my hands. The last thing I felt in life was that letter containing Sirius' love.
I hope you enjoyed A Letter With Love From Sirius. I'm hoping to do a longer story soon involving these characters. I really do enjoy looking at Marlene McKinnon and her life. I also really enjoy writing for the pairing of Sirius Black and Marlene McKinnon. They are starting to become one of OTPs.
