A/N: I don't own bones (because if I did they would be together.

I also did not steal any ideas from anyone (no one has accused me but I just wanted to put that out there.) Please R/R

Bones was sitting in the car with Booth, Hodgins, and Angela. She completely forgot about the two in the backseat, like usual when her mind was focused on Booth.

"I want a cat." She said frankly but off mindedly.

"What?" Booth replied startled, he knew she was thinking about something but couldn't put his finger on it.

"I think I should get a cat."

"What why?"

"I don't know why your so surprised studies say that 66% of single women own a cat." She always used logic and statistics with him, it was the only way to make the conversations go easier.

"But a cat? Just get a goldfish or something." He could never understand some of her logic. A cat? Why would she get a cat? He pondered. He sighed, sometimes she was unpredictable, but in many ways to him she wasn't. Says what she wants, backs it up with logic, becomes strong headed and a little bit defensive when you tell her what you think. Yep sometimes she was predictable, god he loved her. He thought.

"Why do you want a cat anyway?"

"I get lonely," she answered, "Angela, you agree with me, right?"

"About what? You know what I think, honey?" she said as not exactly a statement but an open ended question, "Forget the cat, bring home a man." That brought on much laughter, but Angela was telling the truth.

She seemed as though she wanted Booth's approval before she goes through with it.

"Well Bones, if you want a cat, don't let me stand in the way." He winked at her.

"But…Booth, I'm serious, and I don't know if I want to go through with it."

"You make it sound like this big life changing decision, it's a cat, and I'm sure you would be a great…cat…owner." He couldn't take those last few words seriously.

"Booth!"

"What bones? I don't know what to say."

"Well I would like your support." She answered.

Booth knew this was about something more than a cat he just couldn't put his finger on it. But it ended up he was right about much more than that.
