The Enchanted Boy
A/N Can you tell I wrote this in about ten minutes? Anyway, this was inspired by Toulouse singing 'Nature Boy in the opening (which is one of my absolute favourite scenes btw)
Toulouse fell for Christian the instant he heard him sing. He would later learn that Christian's voice had that wondrous effect on others as well. But just as he knew that this unknown, strange, enchanted boy was the voice of the Revolution, the instant he heard him sing, he also knew that Christian would never be his.
Toulouse found himself fascinated by Christian, and found he had difficulty believing he was even human, he seemed so otherworldly. So innocent and magical. Christian could enchant with a word and yet he did not seem to realise it.
Toulouse watched Christian watched fall for Satine with insurmountable joy. He watched as his Enchanted Boy (and even though he had only just met him, Toulouse would always think of Christian as his Enchanted Boy) learned the true meaning of love. He sat by Christian as Satine descended from the roof, looking, as she always did, like a pure white goddess, and saw, for the first and last time, Christian become lost for words.
He helped and protected the two lovers as he saw them as the icons of the Revolution, and he could never refuse his Enchanted Boy anything.
Now, though, the Enchanted Boy had been replaced by a man. A bitter, vice ridden man who was just about holding on to his ideals of Truth, Beauty, Freedom and, above all, Love. For his part, Toulouse would have gladly given his life to give Christian the strength to write The Story, because although not many would have understood his feelings about Christian, Toulouse knew that he was more than a writer, he was the Enchanted Boy, and the world needed to hear his story.
