Prologue

The golden age of man had passed, now they had drained the world of all of it's natural resources, what remained of once unprofitable veins now became unimaginably valuable as the few remaining ores and fuels quickly dwindled beneath humanity's gluttonous appetite for luxury. Eventually, a way of going Faster than light was discovered by genius scientist Hideki Ishimura, the drive was called a Shockpoint drive, and relied on the theories presented by the Alcubierre Drive. This drive had allowed humanity to grow out into space in search of resources to sate their citizens' desire, and the first planet cracker-class ship, the USG Ishimura, launched in 2446, catapulted humanity into a revitalized golden age, one that was predicted to last as long as there were planets that could keep the ever-growing demand for resources satisfied. Eventually, Pluto was cracked open and an odd structure was found, buried in the dwarf planet's core, resembling two prongs outstretched with a pair of rings in the middle, one slightly smaller than the other. This structure had turned itself on as soon as the planet broke away from it, however, any ships sent through would be instantaneously destroyed before they got close. Soon after, an ancient relic and a massive pile of an unknown element was found beneath the soil of Mars, and research was taken into what this element was. The element, dubbed 'Eezo' by the scientists, contained properties that seemed to break the laws of physics, capable of generating a field around an object that can reduce or increase the mass of it, though this was comparatively useless with modern FTL technologies, defenses and weapons, they discovered that the structure buried in Pluto had the same element in the center of the two rings. Using this new element, they created a ship that had both a Shockpoint Drive and an Eezo Drive, both or either of which could be activated or deactivated at any given time, though it was still powered by a Singularity core. The newer drive was placed at four nacelles in a rectangular formation around the ship, and each nacelle had several detectable batteries in them to prevent the necessary charge from building up to levels that endanger the crew. This new ship, the USM Values, was commissioned on October 27, 2504, and this is what is discovered.
