It didn't matter

Disclaimer: I do not own Defiance or its Characters.

Summary: What Irisa was thinking during Datak's Speech during past is prologue and it eventually leads to her appearance during nolan's fight with datak. Its mostly family fluff, but there is cursing in Votan.

Irisa was sitting by herself in the Lawkeepeer's office while datak was making his speech over raider radio. Datak really loved to hear himself talk as he kept going on about Nolan and his "accomplishments" during the pale wars. While Datak kept going, Irisa was thinking "Piece of shtako haint, knew I should have stabbed him after the bioman fight."

But it eventually lead her to be thinking about what Datak was talking about. Throughout the years they have been together, Nolan never talked about what he did during the pale wars. She never really pressed the issue because she understood how difficult that it was for Nolan during the war and what he had to do to survive it. She even understood why fought in the first place, he was defending his home against the people who had changed it forever. But Irisa knew that when it came right down to it, all of it didn't matter. Nolan was still the man who saved her from lunatic castithans in that tent in Denver. Nolan was still the man who raised her when others would have just passed her off and Nolan was still the man who she loved as her father. Irisa got up and left the Lawkeeper office to look for Nolan because she knew that it was time to get the hell out of Defiance.

It took her awhile to find Nolan, but she just found him as he knocked out Dataks Sensoth bodyguard cold. They thought that they were going to shoot it out in the street, but it turns out that they were going to fight it out instead. Datak was able to hold his own, but Irisa felt a sense of pride as her father kicked the slimy casti's ass. When Datak was on the ground, Irisa saw the look in Nolan's eyes. She saw how hurt her was. He did love being Defiance's Lawkeeper because he finally felt a sense of home that he hasn't felt in a long time. She also saw how angry he was that the haint had just taken it all away from him. He was just about to bash Dataks skull in with his gun when Irisa appeared and stopped him. She gave him a look of love and acceptance for everything that he was, which caused her father to lower his gun.

She lead her father away from the fight where datak shouted something that didn't matter to irisa. She just knew that he needed to shut up and she went backed and kicked him in the skull finally knocking him out cold. She went back and hugged her father as they both prepared to leave defiance and got to Antarctica. It didn't matter where irisa was, as long as she was with her father, it was going to work out.

Authors Note: I am a fan of defiance and its characters and the relationship between Nolan and Irisa make it a great show. If you like, feel free to review.
