Disclaimer: I don't own HP. Sadly, that's all JKR.
A/N: Oh-Kay. This is a little one-shot that kept popping up. So here it is. Constructive criticism is welcome. Here goes…! Oh, and it's in Draco's POV. (Point of View, in case you didn't know)
I stand there, sheltered by the towering bookshelves, watching. More specifically, watching her.
Hermione Granger, the core of my existence. Now, you may be asking yourselves, how did I, Draco Malfoy, end up with Hermione Granger? I'm not really sure. A few things happened here, a big thing happened there, and now, we're standing in a musty bookstore.
I am watching her, as she searches through the books. Her expression is thoughtful, her chocolate eyes kind of dazed, as she stares up into the looming shelves. She's breathing deeply, almost as if she can't get enough oxygen to her lungs.
Blech, no wonder. It's so dusty in here…This is for her. So stop being such a baby, I have to tell myself. Just take shallow breaths.
Oh, she's so pretty. She's wearing a simple outfit, but she looks amazing. Her beautiful thick hair is tied up in a loose bun, and some pieces have escaped. I have to resist the urge to walk up to her and brush it out of her face. She has a stack of books piled up in her arms.
Hold on, she needs my help. Can't reach the top shelf. I walk over to her, and reach above her.
"This one?" I ask, wrapping my hand around the one book that she desired. She looks up shocked, and I smirk and hand her the book. She grabs it, and looks down at the cover. She smiles, and her eyes light up.
"I'm ready now." She said, her smooth voice sounding happy.
"Whenever you are, I am." I reply, too busy staring at her mouth, to really understand.
As we stand in the checkout line, I notice as the young faced employee gawks at her. I wrap my arm around her waist, and smirk smugly up at the boy. His smile falters, and he keeps his eyes down. He finishes and I hand him the correct amount.
I pick up her bag, and we turn to leave. After we walk out the door, she playfully smacks my arm.
"You shouldn't do that, you know. It's not very nice." She says.
"I know." I say, and we turn the corner to the rest of our lives, together.
