The Doctor collapsed on the ground, a cloud of dirt rushing to greet him. The Master stared, a look of loathing on his face, then he slowly crouched. Pain and anger were written across the Doctor. But there was sadness, too. For he was all alone, and all he wanted was the Master by his side.
The Master reached out and slowly stroked the Doctor's cheek.
"I wish there was a way this could work."
"Let me help you!" the Doctor shouted, struggling to pull himself off the ground.
The Master grabbed under his arms and pulled. Together they pulled themselves up, the Doctor holding on to the Master for life.
"You can't help me. Don't you SEE? The drumming. The drumming will never stop. And if it did...what would I be without it? It's all I've ever known. Without the drumming, I wouldn't know myself." He pushed the Doctor away as electricity shot up his spine.
"Without the drumming you would be at peace."
Grabbing the Master's face, the Doctor stared into his eyes. They begged to be released. He was in so much pain, and it seemed, for the first time, the Doctor could do nothing.
"I want you with me. We're the last of our kind, we need to stick together. Let me help you. Let me help you then we can travel the stars together! We can see everything, just the two of us. The last of the Timelords."
His face still in the Doctor's hands, the Master smiled.
"I wish it were the simple."
"But it is! Just come with me, we can just get into the TARDIS and go! We can stop this fighting and leave this world forever."
The Doctor waited expectantly, his grip never loosening on the Master's face. The Master stared back, expressionless. A crackle of electricity shot from his hands.
"That's what you want, then? To leave all your little humans behind and deal with me for the rest of eternity? I would never be enough to smash out your love for them."
"But you are!" the Doctor cried and pulled the Master's face to his.
Their lips met and the Master let out a gasp. The Doctor let go of his face to thrust his hands into the Master's hair. He pulled and the Master pressed his body against the Doctor's and groaned.
The Master started ripping at the Doctor's clothes. "So this is why you're so willing to leave behind these humans."
"I thought it was obvious," the Doctor panted, tossing his tie and diving once more at the Master.
"You were always with your little human companions, what was I supposed to think?" He pulled at the last of his clothes.
"It was always you." the Doctor whimpered, biting the Master's lip.
Before long, they were rolling around in the dirt, sparks shooting from the Master's fingertips, the Doctor whimpering and the Master growling deep in his throat.
The longer they were entwined, the quieter the drumming inside the Master's head became. He moved with the beat, but he soon drowned it out, until it was barely a whisper in the back of his mind. The Doctor really was helping.
"Master...Master..." The Doctor moaned in his ear. The drumming was now gone, and a peace was settling behind his eyes. He bit into the Doctor's shoulder as his body was wracked with pleasure.
"It's...it's stopped," the Mastered panted, draping himself over the Doctor.
"What?"
"The drumming...it's gone."
A smile flashed across the Doctor's face. "Didn't I tell you I could help? You've got to trust me-I'm a Doctor!"
