Wise Up
by Susan Zahn
I'm
a man of rough means,
a pirate and smuggler.
It's not
really me that you want.
You were born of the breed
of
those meant to lead.
But it's bars, not court rooms that I
haunt.
I like freedom
and space;
can't stay in one place,
but it's stability a
princess needs.
I just can't see
how you could want
me;
I'm not nearly as noble as my deeds.
Must've been the
action
and the heat of a passion,
so it's doomed from the
very start.
What made you think
that by giving a wink
I
was prepared to give you my heart?
Ah,
hell, Princess,
can't you call a recess,
and we'll try to
work this out?
I advise
a compromise.
Isn't that what
love's all about?
