Elegy For An Eternal Child:

Haunted Haley sat in a darkened room.

Surrounded by an aura of impending doom.

She looked longingly at a photo of her friends.

And hoped their was no pain at their life's ends.

She stared at the place where monsters once lived under her bed.

The child they once terrified was long since dead.

It was in that small room that the illness took its toll.

And left behind an eternal child with a ravaged soul.

For a while blood became her entire life.

But then she started to feel the pain of solitude,

Like a sharpened knife.

She was a rose that would never bloom, never wilt, never grow.

She saw things through a child's eyes that a child ought never know.

So she sat at her desk and wrote that she was done.

And ran outside to feel the fiery kiss of the deadly morning sun.
