My Immortal
Maura sat against the tree, staring up at the deep blue sky as the thoughts ran through her mind. The place in which she sat was once her favorite place to be, and still she felt herself drawn to it. Only now, for different reasons than before. She could still remember him. His childish atmosphere, playful expression, and soft hearted attitude. He loved everything she did, sharing everything with her. Though, now he was gone, she could still feel his presence. Lingering around as if he still resisted to move on.
She missed him.
I'm so tired of being here, suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave, I wish that you would just leave
Your presence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone
She closed her eyes slowly, his face pictured clearly in her mind. The light shining in his caramel brown eyes. The way he looked at her. The way he held her. His voice in her ear. She could imagine it all. The feeling remaining with her, as if he were sitting next to her in the soft grass. Laughing as he always did. His sweet voice, ringing in her ears. Tears slowly rolled down her cheek as these illusions passed her mind. Why did he have to leave her? Why couldn't she have him for a little longer.
You used to captivate me by your resonating light
Now, I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me
Maura crossed her legs and leaned forward, burying her face in her hands. She could remember everything. What he liked, what he didn't. What he would never be able to experience again. Though she knew, he would never fear again.
She remembered sitting under the tree, he'd been freaking out over something Ludwig had said. He was crying, afraid of losing his friend, she sat beside him, her arms wrapped securely around him. Assuring him that she'd always be his friend. But he was more than that. She loved him, and she made the point to tell him. The look he gave her when she did. Complete joy, it made them both happy to see the other smile. Something else they shared.
These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase
When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me
Maura looked up when she heard soft footsteps approaching. Lovino looked away when he saw her, hiding the tears that were in his eyes. She knew him well, he acted strong, hiding the soft hearted boy he really was. She nodded to him, a way of greeting him in acknowledgment with out speaking. He looked down at the small, stone cross that stood only fifty feet before her seat at the tree. A batch of flowers in his hand, he nearly dropped them on the ground as he fell on his knees.
"Feliciano, you idiot." He murmured under his breath, tears finally breaking his mask expression, and his fail attempt at being strong. Maura watched silently, looking from Lovino, to the stone cross she'd been avoiding looking at the entire time. The tears returning to her face as she silently read the name engraved in the marble.
"Feliciano Veneziano Vargas"
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me, I've been alone all along
