Disclaimer: I own nothing except my love for a little furry hobbit.
A/N: I wrote this while looking at the painting "Sam and Shelob" by John Howe. The man is amazing. This is my favorite part of the trilogy other then the scene on Mount Doom. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and PLEASE review! Oh, shameless plug, please read my fic, "A Knock At The Door" I'm really proud of it.=) thanks-melanie
It Can't Be True
Darkness sets upon my heart
I don't know where to turn
My master lays beside me dead
To him life won't return
Its all a whir, or so it seems
I can't just leave him here
To sentence him I cannot do
Not one I hold so dear
He's gone I must accept the fact
But no, it can't be true
Gandalf wouldn't have sent me here
If the spell I can't undo
I have to leave though I can't bear
The thought of going on
Without him standing next to me
That time just can't be gone
I now lie crumpled next to him
Crying through my pain
I can't believe it, no, I won't
He wasn't really slain
He's sleeping yes, that's what it is
"Don't leave him Sam" I say
I close my eyes to contemplate
How to face another day
