"I accepted life as a hero..."
"How can I accept 'life as a hero' when all I can do is watch my friends die in front of me!?"
It was done - the pain, suffering, loss, and anguish. It was all gone.
"Link, I...I love you!"
That was the last thing Ilia said to him. "Please...come back to visit sometime...we'll all be waiting."
Kneeling down to receive the honor of knighthood from the princess, Link remembered his friends, his comrades. 'Colin...' He thought, 'I hope you're doing well. I hope you can take my place in Ordon.'
"Link...you're a hero right? Will I ever one day become just as strong as you...?"
"Yes Colin, you can..."
Behind the corridor was the one and only hero's shade, shedding tears of pride and enjoy from his success of being able to pass on, knowing he could move on to the next world. He started to walk toward the golden light waiting for him, waiting to take her hand to arrive in the afterlife. He turned back one last time to catch a glimpse of his incarnation, yes, he had grown up since he first started his journey.
The now honorable hero, worthy of the princess's affection looked up to see his master, taking in his appearance: Ocean blue eyes, golden blond hair, and a smirk/smile quite similar to his. 'What do you know? He looks just like me.'
Curious to see where her protector was looking, the Princess Zelda looked his direction to see her past self as well. Unlike the two heroes, both princesses looked quite differently. One with golden long blonde hair as well as a pink color scheme, and one with golden streaks in her brown hair with a purple color scheme to her attire.
The four incarnations smiled at each other, the previous pair holding up their left hands to present the triforces of Wisdom and Courage on the back of their hands and her highness as well as the chosen hero doing the same. In less than a second, the golden light shone brighter, taking the Hero of Time and his lover away to the afterlife - away to a place...where he could have no more regrets.
