Hinami was always helping her father treat people ever since she was little. It's how she got really good at healing all types of wounds. It's how she landed her current job of stitching up Aogiry Tree members after every mission. She never had trouble with blood, maintaining a calm head and a cool attitude even in the presence of things that would make anyone's stomach turn. Until he got hurt.

He, who was always smug and arrogant, flashing that smirk every time he talked to her. He who would always make fun of her in that teasing way only he knew. He who always made her laugh no matter how sad she was. She usually went with them in case someone got an injury that would otherwise kill them if they didn't receive first-aid care right away, but Tatara said this was a simple reconnaissance mission and there was no real danger. Which is why her heart dropped when he saw Tatara dragging his bloody body before tactlessly throwing it on top of the metal bed that served as the Aogiri makeshift operating table. She just froze in place.

"We ran into some trouble . Some doves showed up. He doesn't weigh much and he didn't slow us down, only reason I brought him." was all Tatara said before walking off.

But to Hinami it sounded as if he was very far away. All her brain could focus on was the red-stained and barely-moving boy in the table in front of her.

"I suggest you move quickly if you don't want him to die" was all she barely heard from the end of the hallway, before the room got quiet. The only noise was his irregular, rasped breathing.

"I have to do something" she thought to herself. "Why aren't I moving" What's wrong?! It was as if her body was frozen in place.

"GODDAMN IT HE IS DANGER, MOVE HINA!" she screamed suddenly. The thought was just enough to get her legs and arms working.

For 7 hours, Hina worked tirelessly without stopping. Every singled muscle in her body ached when she stopped. She couldn't even tell where the sweat began and where the tears ended. She put her ear to his chest. It was moving in a slow but steady fashion. She let out a long sigh. She couldn't remember the last time she had been this tired.

"Please wake up. Please" she said as she hugged him. "I need you to wake up." She climbed in the bed and just laid next him. "Please." was the last thing she said before she fell asleep, with her head in his chest, unable to see his face, the face she missed so much. Unable to see how that face was showing that smirk she loved. "I wouldn't be mad if this moment lasted forever" he thought, before drifting back to sleep, holding her tightly, as if she was going to escape if he didn't.
