I Am The Thing

I'm trapped, I try,
To save an endless world.
They think, that I'm,
Just a Thing.
Can't believe I used to be so blind.
The horror of a nightmare that's mine.
No hope now, No joy,
Everyone sees I'm a monster.
They look past, the soul,
That sleeps and dreams, with the same stars.
I may be a Thing, but I'm a hero,
And I still care.
Let them be scared.
I am The Thing, and I have friends,
A love that won't end.
Though I'll never be human again,
I'm still The Thing.
My friends and I, travel deep.
Stopping evil, from laying seige.
Guilt reigns my leader's mind,
Blames himself for my curse.
Yet when I'm normal,
Will things be better or worse?
Yes I am The Thing, and I have friends,
A curse that won't end.
I'm trapped in its chains.
I'm still The Thing, and that's just great,
My solemn fate.
I will never be human again,
I'll be The Thing.
I am The Thing.
