A/N: And here is my challenge oneshot/drabble…it just came to me when I was writing what was supposed to be my challenge fic. I like it though.
Disclaimer: I absolutely don't own Naruto.
Clouds
It was a cursed hot day in the lands surrounding Suna. Everyone with any sense in their heads was hiding from the accursed heat in desert caves or in their cool homes. Only an idiot would be out…
'Only an idiot would be out on a godforsaken hot day like this…an idiot and his faithful follower that is.' Sasori trudged through the sand about two paces behind his Leader.
Minato Namikaze, hyperactive leader of the minuscule organization called Akatsuki never seemed to realize that, as a banished ninja from Suna, Sasori would be a good person to listen to on when would be a good time to take shelter but nooo…had to have it his way.
For the past year or so, Sasori had been traveling with the young Leader and at times found himself wondering why he put up with the orange-haired man.
"Come on, Sasori! We're almost there!! Come on, move your puppet ass!" Sasori sighed to himself: his Leader was so immature sometimes. Nonetheless, Sasori picked up his pace and soon met up with his Leader.
Minato was standing in a small oasis that was really nothing more than a patch of browned grass. He was smiling faintly when Sasori reached him and motioned for him to leave the safety of Hiroku. Curious, Sasori did as he was motioned to and slowly came to stand next to Minato when he was fully out.
Minato stared out at the flat horizon of the desert for a long time, long enough for Sasori, with his impatient personality, to begin to fidget with impatience and curiosity. Just as he was about to demand to know what was going on, something he only did when he really wanted to know something, Minato turned to him.
"We'll be going to acquire a new member tomorrow. His name's Hidan. I personally think he's an asshole but we need new members." Minato paused. Sasori felt a strange sensation where his gut used to be. It felt like said nonexistent gut was clenching painfully, and he found himself scowling at the thought of another person traveling with them. The Leader was, after all, his…
Sasori's eyes widened at this thought, but Minato began speaking again.
"So…in celebration of our last day together as the sexiest duo of missing Nin ever I decided we should watch clouds together." Sasori rolled his eyes at Minato, but nodded in acquaintance of his Leader's strange request.
Minato flopped to the ground and looked expectantly up at Sasori. Sasori sighed dramatically and sunk gracefully to the ground.
They sat, back to back, in the dead oasis staring at the clouds; sometimes breaking the comfortable silence with comments like, "Oh look that cloud looks like a bunny" and " Do you think clouds taste like marshmallows?"
Sunset finally arrived and the two heaved themselves up and stood side by side as they watched the dying sun turn the pale sand a blood red color. Sasori found himself looking away from the sunset and admiring the affects the light of the sun had on his leader's features. The nose rings glinted in the dying sunlight and his Kyuubi eyes, as Sasori had taken to calling them, shone when he caught Sasori's gaze.
The puppet master looked down, flustered slightly at being caught staring by the younger man. He started when he felt the other's hand cupping his cheek and he grunted lowly in surprise when he felt his head being lifted up. His Leader was staring intently at him.
Minato's thumb swept lazily back and forth across his cheek and he grinned at the faint blush that colored the puppet's cheeks. Steadily holding the other's eyes, the Leader leaned over and brushed his lips over Sasori's.
Leaning back, he grinned at the look on his partner's face and said, "We should watch the clouds more often, Sasori."
