This is for Eatfoodzap, who asked for an AlMei-story. I hope you like it^^

Disclaimer: I don't own FMA.

She couldn't help but stare at him. These words she wanted to hear, they never came.

He didn't say them.

The train was leaving soon, leaving Central and him behind.

Why couldn't he just say those words and stop her from leaving?

The train was heading toward the east of Amestris, closest to Xing as possible.

They were finally done with all the 'Philosopher's Stone'-business, and ready to get back to their normal lives again.

And that meant her going back to Xing with Ran Fan and Ling.

She leaned out of the window of the train, said goodbye to everyone standing outside it, when her eyes met his for probably the last time.

"Take care, Mei!" he said, smiling. The young girl felt like crying. He wasn't supposed to be so happy about her leaving! Didn't he feel anything toward her?

She knew he was happy, though. After all, he had just regained his lost body. No more armour-body.

"I will, Alphonse," she said, trying her hardest to sound happy.

The train started to move, faster and faster out of the city she had grew to love. Because it was a place she could be around him.

Mei sat down in her seat, and a small tear felt down in her lap.

She knew they didn't fit into each other's life; she was a princess, a possible heir to the throne of Xing, but. . . Every princess wished for a Knight in Shining Armour, didn't they?

He stared after the train as it moved out of the city. It brought the only girl he had every loved so much away from him. Because he had told her to go back to Xing with Ling and Ran Fan.

Alphonse knew how much it must have hurt her. After all, it hurt him just to see her disappear out of his hands.

Without any words, he left the station. His friends looked surprised for some seconds, before they just let him walk away.

How stupid could he be? He loved her, and yet he let her go just because he thought it was the best for her.

It wasn't right. They belonged together, just like so many others did.

With that thought stuck in his head, he turned around and ran back to the station, ready to do one thing.

Mei was surprised when the train stopped. Had something happened? Was someone hurt?

Her friends looked just as shocked and scared; they were probably thinking the same as she was.

Just then, the door into her part of the train opened, and showed the most welcoming face she could every think of.

"Mei! I'm sorry I let you go!" Alphonse said as he went over to her.

"I know you have to go back to Xing, that's why I didn't ask of you to stay. But I don't want to lose you, so can I come with you?" that lovely smile of his was enough for her heart to forgive him.

"Of course! But why?"

He smiled again as he sat down in front of her, this time a smile filled with passion.

"I love you, Mei. That's enough. Beside, doesn't all girls long for a Knight?"

And there he said them, the words she wanted.

A/N: I know, stupid and short, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway^^
