Brown Eyes and a Warm Smile
A few days into their voyage and three children had been pulled out of the sea, appearing out of nowhere. Still dripping on the deck Caspian took a moment to look at them properly.
One of the boys was a stranger to him and in contrast to the other two who were glowing with excitement looked ready to keel over despite the energy he had to shout obscure comments at the crew. Caspian easily dismissed him for the two he did recognise.
Queen Lucy, though obviously a little older then when he saw her last was still just a girl, her heartfelt smile and happy disposition always a welcome sight, it was no wonder she was always a favourite amongst man and beast. He was glad to see her and had no doubt she would be a joyous addition to the voyage.
Lastly there was King Edmund staying close to his sister's side, making sure no harm had come to her from their sudden appearance. He looked caught in that stage somewhere between man and boy, his dark hair plastered to his head, brown eyes wide with exhilaration and smiling warmly at the cheering crowd. Caspian felt his gut clench at the sight.
He had let one Penvensie walk away with a goodbye kiss; he would not make the same mistake twice.
