Martha hugged Lionel, she was grateful to see him, but she would be grateful to save anyone at the moment.
Then she noticed Lana standing a few feet away with a bandaged hand. What had happened to her? She frowned, this was Lana.
She quickly pulled away from Lionel. She shouldn't be hugging him, her husband had just died and here she was hugging another man.
Lana asked where Clark was, but of course she didn't know, her son was constantly running off to who knows where. Lana said something about killing Lex. The knife. She knew she should kill Lex; he had caused so much grief to Smallville.

Lana stared at the foreign looking knife, so that was how the new, weird Lex could be stopped.
She knew she could get close enough to kill him, and maybe she would inherit something, or at least she would own the Talon by herself.
She quickly stated that she would do the deed, before Lionel got up the nerve. Wait, if she killed Lex, would Lionel inherit everything? Lex loved her surely he would leave her a million or two.
After a moment of indecision Martha handed her the knife.
She took it.
So, they were letting her kill Lex, well, maybe if Lex hadn't left her anything, Lionel would give her something for getting the job done?
