When Jeanette Miller wasn't reading, studying, practicing for her next concert, or writing her next story, she sketched.

Jeanette owned a purple-covered sketchbook, in which she sometimes drew pictures in. She was actually a very good artist. She could turn the most ordinary things into great pieces of art. The only thing is, nobody knew about her drawings. Nobody at all.

One day, she was starting to draw a picture of some lilies that her sister Eleanor planted in the garden. Their bold, bright yellow color spoke to her. She was attracted to that, like a nectar-collecting bee would. However, in the middle of her drawing, she had to pause.

Jeanette put her sketchbook down on the patio table. Her best friend and secret crush, Simon, had come over to help her study for the upcoming geography test at their school.

The thing was, Simon forgot to bring his geography book! He felt stupid. Luckily, Jeanette offered that they would use her book. She ran inside her house to get it.

On the meanwhile, this gave Simon a great excuse. He noticed the sketchbook lying on the table, standing on it's own. The chipmunk was curious what was in this book of hers. Simon carefully picked the sketchbook up, and slowly started at the beginning.

As Simon flipped through each and every page, he marveled at every drawing. He saw sketches of flowers. Bowls of fruit. Trees. Jeanette had a magic when she drew, making things so appealing.

As Simon got farther into her drawings, he was shocked to see a certain portrait. A portrait of him! She got all his details right, from his wise eyes, to his curved mouth, and his round glasses.

But, Simon was most astounded at the picture on the second to last page. It had a big heart, with two chipmunks inside of it. The part that shook him was the chipmunks, because the chipmunks portrayed in the drawing was him and Jeanette!

Simon was also somewhat relevied, because has knew Jeanette had feelings for him. His dreams were finally coming true.

After a long time searching, Jeanette finally found her geography book. She went back to her porch, and to her surprise, Simon was looking in her sketchbook. Simon noticed her, and he blushed a pale scarlet. Jeanette just stood and smiled, happy to know someone special found her drawings. Her sketchbook.
