Max was trying to be interested. Really.

"See, Max? You can tell the gardenia flowers apart from the others by the scent and the size of the petals."

He forced himself to sit up. Danny had been looking forward to this plant show thing for a week, and who knew? Maybe the info dump he was currently being subjected to would turn out to be useful one day. If, you know, the fate of the world ever rested on proper care of gardenia flowers.

"And this type of gardenia grows in Asia! Isn't that amazing?"

Max felt his eyelids begin to droop...

... No. No, he could do this. He just had to find something else to focus on, that was all. Like the muscles of Danny's back flexing as he reached up to grab a planting pot. Or the way his eyes lit up when they passed another species of flowers.

Or how his lips moved as he told Max what time of year one particular type of flower bloomed.

Fantasizing about kissing Danny (and then some) instead of paying attention to his lectures on plants may not have been the polite thing to do... but it was keeping him awake.

It was keeping him awake like you would not believe.
