Candid Camera
Summary: A camera-wielding John catches Kitty in an embarrassing moment.
Writer note: A little ficlet apart of the "Baby Mine" series.
John loves watching Kitty waddle down the hallway. Her bulging belly is contrary to what her small, slender figure use to be. He didn't particularly like seeing his wife so big, but he did enjoy teasing her about it.
Kitty was going on her eighth month of pregnancy, and her small frame was having a hard time keeping up with the toll of carrying a baby. She didn't move around a lot anymore; using her powers were also out of the question.
Everyday she'd take a walk outside just to get out for a little while. Most of the time, John or another occupant of the Institute would join her. Then she'd plop down on the couch in the common room or go back to her and John's room.
One day John was following a little ways behind Kitty when he noticed something amusing. Kitty had one hand on her back and another on her belly, and she was waddling like a duck. As he watched her disappear into their room, an idea sparked.
The next day, John was waiting for her in the common room with a camera. He watched her pass by then jumped up, switching the camera on. He peeked around the wall, zooming in as Kitty waddled along.
Kitty will never be able to live this down – John thought smugly.
The shot would have been perfect if Wolverine hadn't been coming down the hall the opposite way.
"Hi Mr. Logan," Kitty greeted cheerfully but slightly out of breath.
"Hey half-pint," Logan greeted back. He flicked his gaze down the hall, spotting John with the camera. "I think you might want to turn around."
John saw her bewildered expression when she looked over her shoulder. Then her mouth dropped and Kitty started making her way – faster than he thought she could move nowadays – towards him.
"John! Get back here!" Kitty yelled as John disappeared around the corner.
Sadly, she made him erase the whole incident. But that didn't stop John. After waiting a few days for Kitty to calm down, he secretly recorded her again and this time got away with it.
