Summary: Ginny says good-bye.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ginny stood in the graveyard completely alone. No one dared to intrude upon her grieving. And yet she was surrounded by all her friends.
There to the left of her was the gravestone that had Neville and Luna's names engraved upon it. They had died in the final battle as they confronted Bellatrix Lestrange. I can still hear the way Luna screamed Neville's name as he fell to the ground completely stiff. He never got back up and she died not more than three feet away trying to reach him. Ginny shuddered at the memory.
To her right was her brother, Ron, and his wife Lavender's headstone. They hadn't even reached the final battle. The night before the battle their house had been attacked and they had been murdered in their sleep. Ginny shook her head trying to clear the images of them holding each other in death's cold embrace from her mind.
A little farther up the hill, beneath the weeping willow, she could read the names of Draco and Hermione Malfoy. Beside their headstone she could just make out the smaller headstone that read Aurora Malfoy. An angel draped crying over the child's headstone. She had barely lived for three months before the war had claimed her life. They died at Voldemort's own hands. I pray he did not make them watch the death of their daughter first. They loved her more than life itself. Ginny closed her eyes and held onto her last shred of courage and used it to fight back the tears as she prepared herself to look at the headstone directly in front of her.
Giving up Ginny let the tears flow unchecked down her face as she read the name on the gravestone at the head of the fresh grave in front of her. Harry Potter. Beloved Husband and Friend. Her hand automatically went to caress the roundness of her stomach that extended almost a foot in front of her.
Gracefully she knelt down and pointed her wand at the bottom of the headstone beneath the words Husband and Friend. Quickly she spoke a spell softly, her voice almost cracking in the middle of it, before she awkwardly got up and walked away leaving a red rose against the words she had inscribed. Beloved Father.
Slowly she found her way down the hill and past the lake to the carriage that awaited her at the front of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With one last look behind her Ginny Potter left the magical world once and for all. I love you Harry, but I can't stay here anymore. It's too much pain.
THE END.
SHORT BUT SWEET. SORRY IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE A TISSUE READY.
