Lavender walked into the room, a clipboard in her hand. "Charlie, when I told I hoped to see you for lunch, I didn't mean I wanted you to be my patient."
Charlie frowned. "But you're the best Healer I know. If anyone can fix me up, it's you." He waggled his eyebrows, trying to charm her so she didn't ask questions.
Lavender didn't take the bait. "What happened?"
"Just a little fight with Ron."
She narrowed her eyes. "Oh really? A fight that was bad enough that you landed in the hospital? Let me guess. He was being a prat about us dating again?"
"Kind of, and he said some unkind things about you."
She swallowed. Ron wasn't the most sensitive person, so she could just imagine what her ex-boyfriend had said that sent Charlie into overprotective bear mode. "You're not going to tell me what he said?"
"No, I refuse to repeat those words."
"Why isn't he in the hospital? Surely you did more damage to him than he did to you." There was no way Ron Weasley overpowered Charlie Weasley.
"I might have held back a tiny bit," Charlie sheepishly admitted. No matter how disgusted he had been, Ron was still his brother. Unfortunately, the youngest Weasley son had no qualms with doing as much damage as he could to Charlie, short of fatal curses.
Lavender sighed. "I don't get why he's so upset about you and me. Ron and I dated in school, and he wanted Granger the whole time. We're two years out of Hogwarts, he's finally dating Granger, and he still acts like a childish idiot. It's perplexing."
"It's Ron," Charlie replied, as if that should explain everything.
Lavender rolled her eyes. "Charlie, I love you, but if we ever decide to get married, I refuse to call him my brother-in-law."
Charlie smiled. "I understand. And it's not if we get married. It's when."
Lavender blushed at the promise in his voice. "I can't wait."
She grabbed her wand and began running a diagnostic spell so she could undo the damage Ron wrought on her poor boyfriend.
All the while, her mind schemed. Charlie might be too mature to make Ron pay for this, but Lavender wasn't. And he'd regret sending Charlie to the hospital if it was the last thing Lavender did.
