Hi, hello there, if you look at my profile (or if you have read my Portal 2 fanfiction that died a long time ago(you probably haven't)(it might start again)) I have not posted in a long time, nor have I been on here, but I was working on a project for school and was writing about Samus (we could choose any pre-existing character, so I chose Samus) and this came out of it, thought you guys on here might like it, this chapter is short but more will come as I continue the story, and maybe even after I am done with the project I may continue it.
It was a bright and sunny day on K-2L today, it usually was ever since the technology to control weather was invented. The only days when it rained is when the the president wanted to or it was a scheduled "rain day", so when clouds came out of nowhere and it started raining, Samus was not suprised. Samus lived on the planet of K-2L a mining planet in the middle of space, ther wasn't really much else around the planet except for a small moon and a sun. Samus lived in a neighborhood near the mines, her mom and dad work in the mines, their mom and dad worked in the mines, their mom and dad worked in the mines, it seemed that Samus' family, the Aran's suddenly crawled out of the mines one day. The neighbourhood in which Samus lived was one of the nicest on K-2L, the neighbors were very kind and loved to visit when they weren't in the mines, the mine was close, so Samus' parents visited in their brakes. Samus had never told anyone but she had always wanted to work in the mines, her mother and father worked there, her neighbourhood worked there, and in a few years she would work there.
Samus was the only child in the surrounding area, so ever since Samus was born people had taken a liking to her, children were rare on K-2L, ever since cloning had been possible they just cloned adults to work in the mines, but when a child came along from two not-clone parents it was a special and rare thing and was always celebrated and the child got constant attention throughout his/her life. Samus was no different, but her mother had held a secret from everyone. Just as many generations have worked in the mines, Samus' mother was an alien defender, and her mother was an alien defender, and her mother was an alien defender. If aliens attacked (actually quite common here on K-2L) Samus' mother would get into her power suit and fight the aliens, she was the best alien fighter in the immediate solar system, yet she couldn't tell a soul, too many people would get suspicious. People weren't even supposed to know the aliens were there, their minds were erased and they went on as normal. Samus was the next person to become a defender, and she needed training fast.
