The Touch of a Hand: Prologue
She heard the young genious yell for his brother after the explosion left him on the ground. She looked towards the flaming building that her best friend and lover had run into. Her name was Hikari Isogai. She had known Tadashi Hamada since they were children. They were best friends. She was a serogate sister to Hiro. She was there for them when their parents died. They were always together, until her father's job called her family to Europe.
It was five years ago when Hikari was supposed to move for her fathers job and it was her last night in San Fransokyo. She was with Tadashi at the park. They sat by a pond and talked. "I still cant believe you're going. A small part of me sort of denied it I guess," Tadashi said.
"I know," She replied bringing her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them.
Tadashi put his arm around her making her cheeks burn and turn red. "I'm guna miss you like crazy."
"I know," she giggled, "You've said that all night."
Tadashi chuckled, "I have haven't I."
There was a few minutes of silence. She leaned against him with his arm still resting on her shoulder. " You know I'll come back and visit. It's not like it's 'goobye forever.'"
"I know, it's just..."
She heard his heartbeat race with her ear against his chest.
"Just what," she gulped trying to meet his gaze.
When his brown eyes met her violet ones, she felt his heart beat faster against her hand that laid on his chest.
He closed his eyes then smiled at her in the way that always made her pale cheeks turn bright red.
"It's just that I won't get to tell you... that I love you."
Hikari's eyes widdened and her heart raced. His hand cupped her cheek and he kissed her. She pulled away almost immediately. She looked down her hands trambling. "Hikari?" He took her hands to steady them.
All that raced through her mind was how he could wait until she was leaving to tell her. How could she tell him that she felt the same when she was moving halfway around the world? But more importantly, how could she leave him when she loved him?
"Why now?"
"I'm sorry," he started but was interrupted by a car horn.
"Hikari!," hey father called, "We have to get to the airport come on!"
Hikari looked at the car and got up, Tadashi took her right hand as she turned to go. "Hikari wait," he said with pleading eyes, "I'm sorry I had to tell you before you left."
He sqeezed her hand. His touch felt so warm and comforting, she didn't ant to let go. Her father honked the horn again. She looked back at Tadashi, she did love him, but at that moment there was nothing she could do. She quickly bent down and kissed his cheek. "I'm sorry." she said as she turned away, holding his hand until thir arms streached too far.
She got into the car and looked out the window at him even after they were miles away. She looked back until there was the sound of screeching tires and metal clashing. Then everything went black.
