You don't have to give birth to someone to have a family.- Sandra Bullock

"It's just a physical, Supey, don't be nervous," Wally said letting his arms dangle near his legs, which kicked off the table sporadically. The entire team was sitting on individual hospital beds, in the med bay of the watchtower, with bored expressions on their faces. All but Conner, commonly known as Super-Boy, who was asking Wally questions- a normal occurrence.

" I thought physical was an adjective, not a noun," The clones eyebrows furrowed, as his mind ran through the many things the g-nomes had taught him.

"It is. A physical is really just a medical exam to check if everything is in tip top shape. Most likely we will all be cleared, and ready for field work. They're gonna take your blood pressure, heart rate, stuff like that. It's a normal thing. Any athlete has to get one, and most people just get one to check that everything's a-ok," Wally explained, and Conner nodded uncrossing his arms and putting them on the thin mattress under him.

"It's a check-up, Con, no worries," Artemis intervened, feeling Wally's long explanation might have thrown the Kryptonian off.

"Okay," A few doctors came in, along with Black Canary, and most of the teams mentors. Black canary walked over to Conner, as the other mentors gravitatedtowards their own prodigies.

"This is your first check-up ever, right Conner?" He shrugged, and eyed the doctor who was walking over to them. He was a slight, blonde man, with bright intelligent blue eyes. He was thin, and pallor in color. Conner thought that this man belonged on the hospital bed way more than he did.

"Hi there, Super-boy I'm Doctor Jameson, and I'll be the one who is checking you out. In fact, if anything happens in the field or off duty, I will be the one who takes care of you. Don't worry this shouldn't take long," For such a small man, he had an impressively firm handshake. His eyes and heartbeat spoke the truth of his words, and Conner was at ease with the man.

"It's Conner actually," Jameson smiled, and pulled the stethoscope from his neck pushing it into his ears.

"Well Conner, it's nice to meet you now can you give me a big deep breath," The doctor moved the scope periodically, and Conner breathed on command after a moment the other man put the tool back around his neck smiling.

"Lungs are fully operational, and sound healthy now I'm gonna take your pulse," the physical continued as Conners height, weight, and blood pressure were also all measured. Jameson checked his reflexes, his joints, and the bend of his spine. He advised Dinah to talk to Cadmus, and ask if Conner had been vaccinated for various diseases.

"You can't catch them, but you could transfer them," he had said with a knowing glance. It was a slightly boring, but very informative session. Conner learned many things about himself. He was six feet tall, and apparently was in perfect health for a Kryptonian. The only prescription he got was to get more sleep, and more sun for better energy levels.

"Now I just have to take a few milliliters of blood. I have to do a routine check for silly things that you probably couldn't get anyway, but that's policy," Conner shrugged as his tee shirt sleeve was pulled up, and an antiseptic was swiped over the area.

"Don't worry this will just be a quick pinch. You'll feel a little drowsy and weak afterword, so no training today. Just take it easy. I have to use a kryptonite laced needle to puncture your skin." The super boy nodded wincing only slightly as the glowing needle was inserted into his skin. The syringe filled with a glowing red solution, and the teen was shocked when he remembered that this was his blood. This was what flowed through his veins, keeping him alive and breathingq. Then a Cotten swab was taped to his arm and Jameson left with the vial returning with a box of brightly colored spheres on white sticks.

"As probably the best patient I've ever received, here's an incentive to keep it that way. Lord knows you superheroes think this place is haunted or something. Have a lollipop," Conner smiled a small, half smile and chose a blue one popping it into his mouth, and sucking on it lightly.

"I'll get that blood work back to you before the end of the week," the elder man said addressing Canary, who stood from the plastic chair that she had seated herself in. She walked over to Conner, who yawned and stretched.

"Ready to head back?" Canary received only a nod in return from the suddenly exhausted kryptonian teen. The other teens all joined him, lollipops in their own hands. Wally sighed, waving his green candy around in the air

"It's always the same thing from that woman, more nutrients! Honestly what does she think that I can eat every second of the day? I need to sleep sometimes," Wally grumbled soft heartedly. Truthfully, his doctor was only worried for him, and his metabolism did require a copious amount of nourishment. It still ticked him off that he always got the "more food" lecture.

"My physician suggested that I start taking daily supplements of saltwater. Apparently being on the surface has been ailing my body more than previously thought." Kaldur said with a thoughtful gaze to the rest of his team.

"The doctor and Uncle J'hon have to come up with a better way to keep me cold. Earths temperatures are drastically different from Mars. Uncle J'hon mentioned a trip home could help," M'gann looked distracted and slightly upset by this news.

"Well it would only be a visit right? Besides it might be nice to see your family again. My doc just said more sleep, which with this job is impossible," Artemis shrugged, throwing her hair from off of her shoulder. Robin nodded along with her sentiment

"Ditto," They all turned to Conner, who had been dozing off on their way to the zeta beam. He shook his head stretching a bit.

"Same more sleep, more sun," The rest of the team exchanged amused glances and watched the teen rub his eyes with his knuckles, reflecting his true age of only six months.

"Obviously you definitely need that sleep, Supey your dropping right here," They each entered the zeta tube and Black Canary placed a hand on Conners shoulder as they entered the cave.

"They had to use a kyptonite laced needle for Conner's blood work, so it's giving him some side effects," the other teens looked sympathetically on, as she steered him towards their bedrooms," You go take a nap, and shake that off. The rest of you; training," Wolf joined his alpha, and they padded off to their room for a much needed rest.

Little did the sleeping boy know, that this normal check up would lead to much more than he thought was possible.

He was running through the woods, the leather sandals on his feet protecting them from the harsh undergrowth that lined the forest floor. Behind him he heard sounds of battle and the shrieks of war. He remembered the gentle and firm words his mother had whispered to him.

"Go to the forest. Hide in a tree, my love. Do not fight those who might approach you. Run. If they get too close, blow this whistle and I shall find you, darling. With a kiss pressed to his forehead and the gleaming whistle thrown around his neck, the woman dropped him off near the opening to a huge expanse of dark woods. As he ran, the palace behind him burned in bright, hot orange flames.

Back to the present. The young boy finally reached a huge tree, wider than three of him, with drooping branches stuffed with olives. Perfect. Twigs snapped near him. Someone was coming. The boy clambered up to the tallest branch and leaned down to investigate. A tall, alien-looking creature was walking through along with a number of other alien creatures at his knees, sniffing the air. Looking for something. With a deep pull at his gut, he realized they were probably looking for him.

"I saw you run into this forest, young one. I will find you," The things voice was even and measured, and the boy quaked with fear once again. Taking a few deep breaths, he banished his fear. His momma had taught him that fear was only going to be used against him, and that it would make him weaker to his opponents. The silver bracelets on his forearms glittered and shone reminding him of his place. He was the prince of the Amazons, he had no reason to fear these beings. His grandmother and her warriors yells drew closer and his resolve grew. There was no reason to be scared.

"What a foolish boy. Your thoughts are so loud." He gasped. The creature's mouth hadn't moved. He watched it's eyes meet his own ice blue ones. It said something to the other creatures, and they began scrambling up the tree, claws and teeth glinting in the moonlight.

He gave a startled yelp in fright, and grabbed the whistle releasing a loud blasting shriek from it. The creatures claws' ripped at his skin, and he kicked them away, falling to the ground with a thump. He came face to face with the lead alien, the evil being grabbing at his forearms. Pulling a foot back to kick at it, he suddenly heard its voice in his head

"Sleep now, sleep!' A full drowsy aching ness filled his limbs, and unwillingly all muscles relaxed. Panic set in, and he tried in vain to move but was paralyzed. Eyelids drooping, he heard his mothers voice calling for him. Tall evil being stooped, and picked him up with ease, the other creatures staring into his eyes.

"All g-nomes retreat! We have what we came here for!" He could hear victory battles over his own mothers anguished yells for her son. He could also hear other voices yelling for him. Who was that?

"Conner. Conner! Conner, wake up!"

Conner woke with a gasp and sat straight up, eyes wide. He breathed deeply, his heart pounding as he looked around. The forest was gone. The boy was gone. All that was left was his room. And the other people in his room. He gasped again and was about to start throwing punches... when he recognized them. It was his team and Black Canary. Wolf was whimpering behind them. Canary went to the light switch, and clicked it on. Super boy looked around, still trying to calm his racing heart.

"Woah dude are you okay?" That was Robin speaking. Conner shut his eyes tightly, then opened them again. He nodded and passed a hand over his face.

"What happened?" They all looked around then Artemis sighed.

"You had a nightmare. About forty five minutes into training, Wolf ran in and grabbed us. We came in and you were already having bad dreams. We were trying to wake you up." The other teen let out a slow breath, and rubbed at his forehead. The first tendrils of a headache were starting to press at him.

"What were you dreaming about?" Wally asked. Conner shrugged blushing with embarrassment. Canary walked over, and put a hand on conners shoulder.

"Trainings over for today you guys. Hit the showers and head on home. I'm gonna talk with Conner," the rest of them cast worried glances to the genomorph teen, but exited towards the locker room. Canary sat on the bed near the teen, and sighed.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He shook his head, and got up, going to the washroom where he threw some cool water on his face. Dinah stood there, waiting, with a fresh towel.

"I don't really remember what I was dreaming about," Conner screwed his eyes shut and thought about it, but the only thing he could remember from the dream was a long loud shrieking sound, fighting, and a gentle voice. A woman's voice.

"I remember a woman's voice and a big fight but that's about it." Dinah watched her young charge for a minute, before patting his shoulder. Conner still wasn't very comfortable with touch or emotion, but on occasion Dinah had managed to wrangle a quick hug from him. He even smiled at her whenever she walked in a room. It wasn't a lot, but it was progress and that was all that mattered.

"Dreams are the place where the mind sort out problems it has. They don't always make sense in the moment, but eventually they will all figure themselves out. If you keep having nightmares, just call me. I don't care what time it is, I'll find a way to talk to you," the Kryptonian gave her a grateful smile the walked back to his room think about the dream. Nightmare.

Who was that woman? She seemed so familiar, and so foreign at the same time. Why had he been in the middle of a fight? Who had the boy been in his dreams? It couldn't have been him he had never been out of his pod before he met the other young heroes. and what was that noise he remembered? None of it made sense, and gave him a bad feeling. He knew the people in his dream.

All he had to do was remember.

okay so not too bad right? I thought it was okay. I'll be a slow but hopefully methodical updated and I hope y'all enjoy this. Next chapter will be the reveal and maybe Conner starting to remember some more
