Gohan, instead of Goku, dies in the Cell Games. One-shot!
"HAHAHA!" as the madman known as Cell continued to cackle in victory, Gohan realized he had to do something, anything.
"Cell!" he cried out angrily, "How could you do this..?" the anger turned to sorrow quickly as he decided to make his move.
Gohan quickly walked up to the confused Cell with confidence. He grabbed on to the now blubbery creature. He turned to face the shocked faces of his friends and family.
Gohan smiled at the surprised faces, "Sorry. If dad did this he wouldn't be able to be brought back."
His smile faded as he saw tears well up in everyone's eyes. He put two fingers on his forehead and attempted to do instant transmission. Surprisingly, it worked, and he was gone in a flash, leaving behind many people.
The first one to say anything was Piccolo, "Gohan," he turned to face Goku then bellowed ferociously, "do you see now, Goku?! Because you were too slow and made the decision for Gohan to fight Cell, Gohan is dead! Do you hear me?! DEAD!"
The words rang through Goku's ears. The word seemed to mock him. 'DEAD!' it rang in his head again. 'DEAD!'
Krillin let tears fall, "Gohan..?" he whispered pathetically, "Gohan?" this time the realization hit him hard, "GOHAN!"
Vegeta seemed bitter at Goku now, "Kakarot, you fool! You could have saved Gohan! If you had hurried, if you were a better father!"
Trunks was crying profusely, "I can't believe I lost you again, Gohan. I promised to keep you safe this time.." the purple-haired man mumbled weakly.
"No.." Goku whispered in denial. His son couldn't be dead. His happy-go-lucky son couldn't be dead. "No." he said aloud this time, gaining strength in his voice. "No!"
Tears befell the faces of all the Z fighters as they realized Gohan was dead and gone. The child of the group was dead and gone.
Gone..
Gone.
Gone!
GONE!
