"LOKI GET UP!"

A black-haired boy buried his head further into his pillow, subconsciously avoiding the yelling.

"Hmm mrr " Loki mumbled, half asleep.

A bulky blond stalked towards the bed, looking down at the drowsy boy with amusement. The giant reached down intending to gently shake his brother awake. Before he could rest his hand on the boy's shoulder, the raven head lifted slightly and piercing eyes glared at the blond.

"Touch me and you die, Thor." Loki hissed.

The threat made Thor smile as he watched his brother get out of bed and stagger towards the bathroom. Thor followed, leaning against the doorway, observing Loki as he tried to fix his sleep-mused hair. Loki scowled at his reflection in the mirror.

"There's no need to be grumpy brother. In fact, you should be excited as it is your first day of high school." The blond practically beamed but Loki had no idea why he would be so cheerful.

He stopped what he was doing and looked at Thor in disbelief.
"I hated middle school. What makes you think I'll like high school?"

Thor furrowed his brow, thinking about the answer so hard, Loki was sure it had to hurt him. Thor suddenly looked up, smiling. Loki could almost see an imaginary lightbulb click on and he waited for his brother's epiphany.

"The people." the blond giant replied confidently.

Loki looked at him in disbelief, hardly believing that ridiculous response took all that brain power. He shook his head as he exited the bathroom and headed to the closet.
He started to change but halted since his brother was still in the room. With his shirt still bunched up in his hands, he gestured to the door with his head.

Thor looked confused for a moment but then he understood.
Slowly shaking his head at Loki, he said "Does it really matter if I stay? We are brothers. Plus how do I know you would not just go lay back down?"

Once again Loki narrowed his eyes and gave Thor a disparaging look.
'Thanks for ignoring my privacy, brother. Fine! Since you want to play it that way, then I'll make you be the uncomfortable one.' Loki turned and flipped on the stereo sitting on the dresser right next to the closet. He station hopped until he found the perfect song.

Loki walked towards Thor slowly, swaying his hips to the beat of the music.
"You lift my heart up, when the rest of me is down.." Loki sang, his smooth tenor pitch almost hypnotic.
He slid his hands up Thor chest, put his lips next to his brother's ear. His hot breath tickled Thor's skin as he sang the song to him.

Too shocked to do anything, Thor was frozen in place. Loki, still swaying his hips, danced a step or two away from his blond sibling. He then proceeded to teasingly lift his shirt up, revealing his washboard abs inch by inch.
Before he could completely rid himself of the shirt, Thor snapped back to reality.

The fair-haired sibling marched over to his brother and grabbed him roughly by the arm.
"What the fuck do you think you are doing?" he exclaimed, his eyes focused intently on his dark-haired brother.

"You told me it didn't matter if I stripped in front of you". Loki said with a bored look on his face which infuriated Thor even more. "I said it did not matter if you changed in front of me.. not stripped! Change and strip are two very different things!"

"No, not really. Both involve losing clothes." Loki said with a smirk.

Thor felt confused, frustrated and slightly aroused. Needing some distance, Thor shoved Loki out of his way. .

"Hurry up and get dressed or we'll be late for school." his voice came out very monotonic. Exiting the room, he avoided eye contact with Loki.

Loki's shoulders slumped the moment Thor was out of sight. He always seemed to be sarcastic and aloof but that was just an act to hide his true feelings.

He loved Thor, wanted him more than anything on Earth. This time it almost seemed like Thor wanted him as well, regardless of the fact that they were brothers.

"Almost.." Loki said softly. He took his time gathering his stuff, not wanting to face his brother so soon.

Right before exiting the house he checked the mirror. A heartbroken face gazed back at him. 'This won't fool anyone.' Loki thought and carefully schooled his features into his patented devil-may-care grin. He couldn't live with everyone knowing just how deeply he felt things. He would rather act arrogant and have everyone dislike him then deal with their pitying looks.

Locking the front door behind him Loki looked towards the car. Inside Thor looked like he was seething with anger.

He steeled himself and tried to project confidence when he leapt into the passenger seat. The oppressive silence was deafening, the simple click of his seatbelt seemed to echo in the small confines of the vehicle.

Loki glanced over at Thor and watched his strong hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. The blond's jaw was tight, his muscles taut. Most people would be running scared but Loki found him majestic when he was furious.

Loki watched in fascination as Thor took a deep breath and then spoke softly in a voice that was a complete contrast to his ire.

"I do not understand you. Do you even care that we are brothers?"

"What can I say, the heart wants what it wants." Loki spoke flippantly but smiled sadly. Thor still hadn't even looked at him.

"But it is wrong.. And it is not natural."

Loki was suddenly filled with anger. "Are you saying love is wrong? In any form?" he yelled. "And as for 'unnatural' then why do animals mate with their own kin!"

His response was met with complete silence. Thor refused to say anything, he just started the car and proceeded to say nothing on the long drive to school. Loki thought he would go mad from the quietude, it gave him far too much time to dwell on his pain. By the time they reached the school, Loki was almost crippled from the heartache.

After parking the car, Thor looked over at his brother. It was strange for Loki to act so introverted. He could see the sadness on his brother's face and it shocked him into speaking. "Loki.. Look, I'm sor-" he began.

His raven haired sibling cut him off coldly, "It's fine."

Not willing to risk a backwards glance at Thor, Loki jumped out of the car and bolted into the school. He bottled up all his feelings and once again donned his rakish mask, unwilling to let anyone see the anguish he felt.
