Kirito was lost. This wasn't ALO because there was no menu and the world was just too... Real...
He knew that he still had his ALO body, in fact, he had Liz's long sword and the Holy Sword Excalibur on him. He also had the same physical traits (he had punched a tree to check). So where in the hell was he? The Black Swords Man hadn't been this nervous since the end of SAO. He sighed...
"Guess I got out of the frying and into the fire." He muttered scratching the back of his head. Then he froze. He had maxed out his Searching Skill so he knew something was definitely coming. He got up from his sitting position and dusted his black cloak off. Liz's sword came smoothly out of its sheath with an audible shtinnnk. The familiar weight of his sword in his hand calmed down his nerves a little as he backed away from the mystery animal. He heard it coming closer. He tensed as it burst out into his sights. It was a black bear? No, a literal black humanoid bear with a white head and spikes. He shrugged internally, he had seems weirder things. He let the Black Swords Man mindset come over him. His body went into the stance for his favorite one handed Sword Skill; Vorpal Strike. The familiar Crimson glow activated and he let it take over his body. The humanoid/bear thing didn't even attempt to dodge as it ran at him with its arm swinging. The Sword skill. He was slightly surprised by the results. The force of Vorpal Strike had totally destroyed the animals body, with just its top and bottom surviving with its limbs. That thing must have been a mob equal to floor 5 at the most. He shrugged and sheathed his sword. Time to go exploring...
On a cliff, a coffee addict was on his futuristic iPad. Nope, not an iPad, a scroll. Anyway, he was looking curiously at some footage that his cameras had picked up. He had actually been on a morning stroll and on his scroll when he found it. The cameras were placed year round to save the trouble of putting them up and taking them down. The only people that came into Forever Fall were Beacon students and Hunters, the imagine his surprise when he found a teenager with two swords wondering around and killing off random grimm. Wait, surprised? Yep, Prof Ozpin did not get surprised by much because he is... Well... Prof. Ozpin but this black clad teenager was killing tons of Beowolves and he looked, bored. Ozpin definitely wanted the mysterious swordsman to join Beacon.
Killing the mobs was actually starting to get boring. With his Virtual body he could take them easily without Sword Skills. Kirito sheathed his sword as he killed the last animal before him. He had been jumped by a pack of 7 of them and was able to kill off all seven with the Deadly Sins. Kirito had already noticed a flaw in his style. Sword Skills were usually meant to take on single opponents. It would get to a point where he would have to keep moving forward to keep the skill connecting with the mobs instead of empty air. Of course this wasn't a problem right now as these things just seemed to charge in with little strategy. He gave off another sigh. He had tried to fly but his wings refused to appear so he was stuck walking through the forest. Then started thinking of his friends. He wondered what they would do now that he was gone and came off blank. He never contemplated this kind of situation, who would? The whole things was really arbitrary.
He glanced up and saw the cliff looming up out of the fog. Wait! What fog? Kirito looked up again. Sure enough, rising out of the fog was a cliff. He looked straight ahead. There seemed to be some ruins that looked sort of like those Greek temples he had seen in his textbooks. It was just standing on supports over what looked like a bottomless ravine. He shivered, it brought back memories of Keita. He looked up at the cliff, he was sure that he could wall run it. It was shorter than the wall of the dragon nest that he and Liz had fallen in and there was no ice. He found a walkway leading to the cliff. He walked back some distance to give himself space.
Ozpin's eyes widened as he watched his scroll. He stopped walking right in front of the temple ruins as that appeared to be the direction that the stranger was going. He stopped to watch the progress of the teenager which is when he almost spit out his coffee. The swordsman had started running up the wall, creating what appeared to be a sonic boom. He had watched Ruby run up the cliff but she had a boost from Weiss and Crescent Rose. This young man had just run up it under his own power. He looked up, the mystery swordsman was just 3 meters away.
Kirito looked at the man in front of him, he had glasses and a green scarf. He was holding a cup of coffee and a futuristic iPad?
They stared at each other for a few seconds before Kirito decided told initiate a conversation,"Ano, can you please tell me where I am?"
The man responded "Certainly young man, you are on Beacon cliff in the kingdom of Vale." Kingdom of Vale? Is this a VRMMO? No, he had already established that this definitely was not.
"Ummm, I'm afraid that I am not aware of what or where the Kingdom of Vale is..." Kirito said.
Ozpin was confused, the boy wasn't lieing, Ozpin could see that, so how did he not know where Vale was?
Ozpin forged ahead, "it's in Remnant."
Kirito was heavily confused. "I don't think I have heard of that either." Then something occurred to him, "Do you happen to know what those bear human things are?"
Ozpin was relieved that he heard a question that he could answer. "They are called the creatures of Grimm, along time ago, they just appeared and started killing humans and Faunus."
This brought up more questions for Kirito; "What's a Faunus?"
"A Faunus is a human with animal traits like cat ears or a rabbit tail." Kirito didn't know what to say to that.
"Where did you learn to fight like that?" Ozpin inquired.
"I just learned it myself." Replied Kirito, not knowing if he should reveal SAO to Ozpin.
"Would you like to join my academy?" Asked Ozpin.
"What's that?" Asked Kirito.
"It's a school that trains hunters" seeing that Kirito didn't know what a hunter was he quickly added "Hunters are people who fight the Grimm."
Kirito nodded in understanding, he already knew what his answer the second that Ozpin clarified. "Yes" Kirito replied, his voice full of conviction.
"I didn't catch your name young man" Ozpin said.
"Kirito, my name is Kirito" replied the teen.
"Well, Kirito, my name is Ozpin, headmaster of Beacon academy." Said Ozpin.
Ozpin already knew that Glynda wouldn't approve, but he knew that she could not refuse, not that she didn't try.
"You invited a completely unknown, heavily armed person to Beacon? What are you thinking?" Yelled Prof. Goodwitch.
"Well he had the skill, he also seemed relatively nice." Said Ozpin.
Glynda Goodwitch sighed, she knew that further argument with her colleague was useless.
"I looked him up and it comes blank, Kirito didn't exist until you found him." She said.
"I thought as much." Said Ozpin, taking another sip from his mug. He then glanced at the clock, "We should get ready, Kirito's initiation is coming up."
Team RWBY was just waking up when an announcement came over the PA
"Attention all first years, there will be an initiation today, you have the day off, if you wish to watch the initiation, head to the multi purpose room."
They looked at each other.
"I don't have anything planned today so I think I am gonna watch the initiation." Said Ruby "What are you guys going to do?"
"I am with you sis!" Replied Yang
Blake didn't have anything better to do. "I think I will go watch it too."
Weiss hesitated before muttering someone to herself. She then said "I will go too."
"You are actually going to watch it?" Asked Yang in disbelief.
"Of course, if this new student joins us, we should know what he or she can do." Said Weiss.
"Which means that she wants an edge when we spar." Said Blake, her ears having picked up what Weiss said to herself. Ruby and Yang giggled. While Weiss sent her an ice cold glare.
With that, the girls got ready. When they opened the door and started walking towards the Auditorium, (Multipurpose rooms can be auditoriums, gyms, a lot). They met team JNPR and a stream of students with no plans heading towards the Auditorium.
"I wonder what the new student looks like." Said Yang, already fantasizing.
"Get those indecent thoughts out of your head!" Weiss exclaimed in indignation.
"What thoughts?" Asked Ruby innocently.
Blake, seeing where the conversation was leading decided to speak. "Nothing you need to worry about."
Ruby looked at her questioningly and was about to ask another question when Ms. Goodwitch stepped onto the stage.
"As you already know, we have a new student, he will go through the exact same initiation as you have." She said. Hands raised.
An unimportant character spoke. "Isn't that unfair because he is going by himself?"
Ms. Goodwitch answered with a certain glint in her eyes. "That's why you should come at the beginning of the year." The students quickly fell silent and watched the video feed.
Yang smiled "He looks pretty cute!"
Weiss glared at noticed "get that stick out.." Blake shoved her hands over Ruby's ears. "...Our of your ass Ice princess" Weiss spluttered in outrage.
"Hey! He looks just like you Ren!" Burst out Nora. The others agreed, that the black clad student did indeed look similar to Lie Ren. In another part of the school: "Hey, the newbie looks just like you Yatsu." Said a certain sunglasses wearing teamleader.
Kirito shoved his nervousness down into the deepest pits of his mind. Ozpin had described the other types of Grim that he might encounter and to be honest, the Nevermore had him nervous. He didn't have any ranged weapons. He had a plan of course, but he knew that plans usually failed at the worst times.
"it's almost time" said Ozpin, sipping from his cup of coffee "Please step on the plate."
Kirito complied.
"Alright, I hope you have a landing strategy and good luck." Said Ozpin.
"A landing stra... UAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!," Kirito was flung into the air.
Ozpin then suddenly realized something. Kirito might not have an aura. Earlier, he thought Kirito was using his aura to make his sword go into then human speeds he had seen because of the glow on the blade. But then Kirito hadn't known what Vale was or anything else about Remnant. Ozpin shrugged and took a sip of coffee, oh well.
Kirito stopped flailing in the air. The fact that he had two very dense swords on his back probably wasn't helping slow himself down. He knew that he could probably take a fall if he had too, this was his ALO body, he survived a splatter into a tower in Skyvain and the fall to the ground after it. After a little trouble, he pulled out Liz's sword. Right before he hit the tree line he activated the sword skill Spinning Shield. The familiar shade of light green lit up in a circle in front of him as he allowed the, the... The system? Kirito wasn't sure because he knew this was not a game. Most of the trees in front of him were broken down or he deflected off of. The sword skill stopped as he was about to hit the ground. He quickly braced himself. He hit the ground with a loud PHMM. He got up and brushed himself off. He started walking.
He stopped using sword skills until he ran into an Ursa... Major. He inwardly was happy, it would give him a chance to test out his higher level sword skills. He decided to take it by surprise and rushed forward at top speed. The Ursa, stunned by his speed, stopped running and tried to swipe him with its claws.. Kirito, using his reaction speed dodged the Ursa's claws and ran up the Ursa. Kicking off its head, he activated the sword skill Lightning Fall. His sword glowed a violet blue and as he hit the ground he stabbed his sword into it, and released blue lightning which traveled through the ground to the Ursa. It didn't kill the Ursa, but it stunned it. Kirito got up and activated the Sword skill Savage Fulcrum.
"OOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAA" he yelled as the sword took a deep Crimson color and it cut deep into the Ursa at an inhuman speed. The blade suddenly stopped and his hand turned it 90 degrees and he let loose a vertical. The ice properties of the skill started to show as frost started appearing around the cuts. The vertical suddenly stopped and he put all the force he could into a downward vertical. It reached a speed nearly invisible to the human eyes as it nearly cut the Ursa in half from top to bottom.
"How did he do that?" Weiss exclaimed, slightly jealous. Everywhere across the auditorium, similar comments went up.
"Well looks like you got an ice buddy!" Said Yang.
"Wow! That was so cool! His sword started glowing and stuff!" Screamed Ruby
Seeing a potential dangerous situation involving Ruby and weapons Yang tried to calm down Ruby. Blake merely watched with slightly widened eyes.
Kirito kept walking. There were a few more Beowolves but his Hiding Skill being maxed out was enough to get by most of them. Ozpin had said that he would have to choose a chess piece and bring it back. He found them in an abandoned temple looking thing. He looked at all the choices around him. After some deliberation, he chose a knight. The Knights always seemed to be solo. They were also
noble. He took one for the team in a manner of speaking in Aincrad, that's got to count as being noble right?
"YAY! He's in our team!," Ruby said. Blake kept quiet. Yang also celebrated, but for less... Innocent purposes. Weiss started scheming.
Kirito heard a series of loud cracking noises behind him. He quickly spun around and saw a giant scorpion. A Deathstalker... he immediately unsheathed Liz's sword. He still hesitated to use the Holy Sword Excalibur because he had promised not to use it for personal gain. He quickly formulated a plan. The death stalker came upon him. It's giant gold tipped stinger bore down on him with incredible speed. However, Kirito retaliated with an even faster speed. He dodged to the side and as the stinger went past activated the sword skill Vertical Arc. His first hit, a downwards vertical cut part of the way into the stinger. The Deathstalker tried to retract it but the sword skill was to fast and his upwards hit had already bit into the stinger. The gold appendage went flying followed by a blue arc. The Deathstalker was still charging at him and as the claws were about to hit him the Black Swordsmen charged and let out a shout
UUAAAAAAAAAAAA!
His sword glowed a crimson red as the length of the sword doubled and Vorpal Strike plunged into the Deathstalker's skull.
He sheathed the sword with a Shnnnnk and kept walking.
"Wow! He took out the Deathstalker by himself!" Said Ruby, full of excitement. "Hmmmph... He just got lucky." Said Weiss with derision.
"Aww, cheer up Ice princess! You are just jealous." Yang joined in.
Weiss splutter, "am not!"
The Black swordsman looked down into the chasm below. The bottom was covered in fog... If that was the bottom. Kirito felt that there had to be one last thing. Call it a sixth sense. He was proven moments later when he heard a whistling noise. He had heard it before, in fact, he had used weapons like that before. It was a dart. He quickly unsheathed the sword and deflected the object. He was surprised by its size. It looked like a feather? He looked up again. There was a giant black bird... And it was swooping toward him. He brought his sword up and started deflecting the feathers. Kirito saw an abandoned structure over the chasm. It resembled the temples where he had found the artifacts. He also saw a cliff on the other side. The swordsman quickly formed a plan.
Kirito started running as fast as he could towards the structure. All the cameras could pick up was a black blur. At the same time, he sheathed Liz's sword and took out the Holy Sword Excalibur. His justification? Everybody would be really sad if I died. He saw a broken bridge over the chasm and without hesitation, jumped over the hole in the bridge. Gradually gaining speed he kicked off the structure and started wall running. The Nevermore was close behind having compensated for Kirito's change in speed. Everything was going just as Kirito wanted it. He activated the holy sword skill Divine Sword. The blinding light appeared. It startled the Nevermore which stopped. Even the students occupying the auditorium had to close their eyes. Kirito kicked off the wall and executed a backflip.
UUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAA
With all his might, he plunged the holy sword into the back of the bird. It created a giant hole from the combined weight of Kirito's strength and the weight of the sword. Kirito took the sword out and quickly jumped off the bird. The Nevermore, barely still alive fell in, partially paralyzed because Excalibur had split its spine. Kirito landed on the ground and sheathed his sword with practiced precision.
Kirito started sweating. The spotlights were right on him and it was nearly blinding. He decided to just listen to what Ozpin was saying.
"Kirito has recovered the knight piece and will be joining team RWBY." Ozpin announced. Kirito saw a girl in black and red and another in yellow cheering. He correctly assumed that they were team members.
