Chapter 1

A young girl walks out of Club Rio situated in downtown New York. Her name is Julie Guthrie. She was a beauty, wearing a red sequinned shift dress, with a full-on sparkle. Her blonde hair was in a chignon, her smooth neck no doubt laced with a soft, chic fragrance. Her face was delicately painted with soft and probably expensive hints of crème blush, red lipstick and blue-ish mascara. Her dazzling ballet pumps were white, with a blue ribbon on top. That made her every inch the American patriot. She was incredible. Julie thought, "I'm the movie star in the restaurant… aren't I?" She was special, after all. She knows that she was blessed with an X-factor gene inherited from her parents. This X-factor allowed Julie to use her eyes to soak up the sky's energy, and then convert it to light, which can blind the enemy. This gift is what qualified the girl to attend the exclusive Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters in Westchester. Her adeptness at fighting and her wanting to make a better world is what qualified her to be one of the X-Men under the name Morninglight. Nothing short of a highly prepared strike-force with the latest in energy weapons can harm her.

She walked round the corner, millions of pictures of paparazzi whirling around her head, spreading into her vision. Because of her visions of the paparazzi that she was seeing, she was posing, every pose in vogue. Her other thoughts are of contacting Xavier's for some back-up. Tomorrow, Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters was going to be on Spring Break, and she had something planned for the occasion. Julie, her friends Noel, Will, Rebecca, Devon, Robert, Tommy and her best friend Susan are going to be going to the Spring Sounds of the Season concert. Her friends were also mutants, each with their own power. They were all in the X-Men, as well. Julie thought, again, "I can't wait! I'm so looking forward to the concert tomorrow" Spring Break was a lovely time in New York. Music, presents, dancing, and a good laugh. Most of all, there was happiness, and emotion involved. Suddenly she crashed into a person. Wearing her favourite party outfit (black dress, and pink go-go boots), the woman was carrying groceries. "A six pack of beer, champagne, treacle, chicken, parsley…that's it" the mystery person mumbled, checking her groceries. Then she smiled.
