Chapter 1: Why Can't You Get What You Want In Life?
"Hmm.." I thought, "What flower is this?" I open my book and begin to search for the correct species.
I'd just about had it, when I hear a familiar voice being carried in the wind. "Oh, Anneliese," I sighed, as she stood on the balcony above me, singing. She was wearing her wedding dress.
"The wedding," I thought miserably. I love her, and it's awful enough that we couldn't be together, I mean she's a princess for heaven's sake and I'm...well, I'm just a teacher. And now I just have to sit there and watch her marry someone else!
The pain in my chest seems stronger than ever. I began to think about how she must feel, to be engaged to someone you have never even met. Her beautiful voice traveled in the wind, and couldn't help but think, "Why can't you ever have the thing you want the most?"
I tried my best to get back to my studies, but I just couldn't. My eyes got all misty and I shed a tear. I just couldn't help it. I couldn't believe that she was getting married, and in a couple days to. I wish I could have been dreaming, but I knew I wasn't. "It's time to look reality in the face.." I told myself, "Because me and Anneliese is never going to happen."
