Meetings Without Saying A Word
I never thought my dreams would come true. There I was standing in a crowd when my dog decides to run off. Naturally I had to give chase. Well she ends up panting at the feet of the most gorgeous sight my eyes have ever seen. I never expected to see him. We hadn't spoken since we returned from the Delta Quadrant. I took a job at the Academy teaching of all things and he went home to Dorvan, to rebuild. Now 2 years later we meet again. Our separation looming between us. He knew I loved him and that I wanted him to wait until we were home. He didn't but I was willing to accept it because I knew he wouldn't wait forever. He and Seven split up not long after he returned to Dorvan. She hadn't liked his home or so I had heard.
But there he was and my dog was lying at his feet. She's a shameless little thing, playing up to anyone who will pay attention to her. I couldn't help but stare. He looked so good. A little tanner and a little thinner than the last time I saw him. Mark called after me. He had invited me to lunch but I was wary of his invitations. I believe I've become less trusting since we came home. I waved him off, breaking the silence between us.
He smiled at me then. My heart melted at the sight of his slightly crooked grin and those dimples making their appearance. I knew then that I still loved him. Something I kept from him when he got together with Seven. Now sitting across from him, I can see it spark in his eyes and I know it's in mine. He may be on Dorvan and I'm on Earth but we finally have a chance to explore our love. I think this time nothing will keep us apart. His smile got bigger. He's thinking the same thing. We complete each other, point and counterpoint, perfectly in sync. This is what I've missed most these two years. It's amazing how he knows me as he reaches for my hand. I quirk an eyebrow in question and he nods. We rise and begin to walk down a park path hand in hand, my dog following along obediently. It's amazing how much you can say without saying a word.
